Thomas Frank is pleased with Tottenham Hotspur’s response in draw vs Manchester United
Tottenham and Manchester United shared the points in their dramatic 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today. After a poor display in the first half, the Spurs players came out of the tunnel with a chip on their shoulder for the second half.
Brayan Mbeumo gave Spurs the lead with a headed goal in the first half. The Red Devils managed to keep Spurs at bay for the majority of the game, but Mathys Tel and Richarlison scored two late goals to put the Lilywhites ahead. However, their celebration was short-lived as Matthijs de Light scored a header from a corner kick in the dying moments of the game to earn the point for his side.
After a poor attacking display against Chelsea last weekend, Spurs bounced back with a much-improved performance against Manchester United. They registered five shots on target, forcing Senne Lammens to make several impressive saves.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Thomas Frank discussed the result and lauded his players for their performance. He said (h/t Sky Sports):
“I think the very big positive from this game is our performance but especially the second half. Where we stick to the game plan, stick to the structure, stay in the game.”
“Kept doing the right thing, kept believing. Which of course that is huge when we look back at the Chelsea game and we haven’t won that much at home and all that.”
“We know it is out there. To keep going, don’t get attracted to stuff we shouldn’t do. Then we come back and score a brilliant goal and then get to 2-1 up and of course you are disappointed with that late of the goal, with 11 against 10. That is just football. How many times have we seen it?”
“The positive is the players’ reaction and how they kept going.”
Mohammed Kudus missed the Manchester United game as well after picking up a knock against Chelsea. He was unable to make the squad despite earlier hopes of returning for the weekend clash. His availability remains a key factor for Spurs in the upcoming fixtures against Arsenal and PSG.
Mbeumo strikes against former coach Thomas Frank
In the lead-up to the game, Thomas Frank spoke highly of Bryan Mbeumo’s talent, having managed him for a considerable period during his time at Brentford. Frank’s words proved prophetic, as Mbeumo opened the scoring for Manchester United.
The draw against Manchester United has temporarily lifted Spurs into the top four, but their stay could be short-lived if Liverpool manages to take points from their visit to the Etihad Stadium tomorrow.
