Atletico Madrid have entered the race for Tottenham Hotspur target Ademola Lookman
Tottenham Hotspur had been looking to bring in a high-volume scorer and contributor to the roster in the last summer window. And that is where the Lilywhites thought about moving for Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman. But while any move didn’t materialise in the summer window, his situation with the Serie A giants means there is a high possibility that he would look to make a winter exit a reality.
Lookman was quite close to joining Inter Milan on the deadline day last summer, but that move didn’t materialise. Meanwhile, Tottenham looked at him as a Savinho alternative, but none of those two moves came to its conclusion for the Lilywhites either.
Lookman ended up staying at Atalanta last summer. But his public spat with Ivan Juric has reignited these exit links ahead of the winter window.
But any move mid-season is not as easy as it seems, given that Atalanta still have that upper hand in negotiations with his contract running until 2027. So despite that public spat and everything going on, they will likely hold on for a reasonable fee for his signatures.
Atletico Madrid enter chase for his signature
But as Tottenham consider whether to enter the race for his signature, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have entered the race, with Diego Simeone looming for attacking reinforcements at Wanda Metropolitano (via. Fichajes). The Argentine manager is looking for options that can raise the level of his roster as Atleti put plans in place to raise the ceiling of the squad to keep key pieces like Julian Alvarez.
And with Tottenham receiving a recent blow in the race for Morgan Rogers, the North Londoners are scanning the market for a new forward. While the name of Ndiaye has popped up of late, it is unlikely for Everton to sell him in the winter, making a Looking move more likely.

With Atletico Madrid in the race, Tottenham will have to start monitoring Lookman’s situation closely. Atlanta will ideally prefer a bidding war for their price forward, but this is where the likes of Vinai Venkatesham will have to ensure that they don’t overpay if they are fortifying interest in his signature, especially given that he is already twenty-eight (28) and doesn’t come with much of a selling value.
