Son Heung-min dismisses talk of returning to Tottenham Hotspur in January
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to compound their roster when the winter transfer window comes around. With Thomas Frank quite desperate to bring in a new wide forward, many Lilywhites supporters have brought up North Londoners’ icon Heung-min Son as a possible name.
The South Korean wide forward had secured a transfer to MLS side LAFC only in the summer window. And now the North Londoners’ supporters have been asking for his signing for one last dance, given how he didn’t get that chance to bow out at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
We saw Arsenal icon Thierry Henry move to the Emirates Stadium in a similar half-season loan deal about a decade back. And given how Son has been playing of late, his signatures would add more than just weight.
Son rules out Tottenham move

But the former Lilywhites skipper has ruled out such a move, insisting that there will be no winter exit and no exceptions while he wears LAFC’s black and gold.
Son has enjoyed a bright start to his time at LAFC, where he has already notched up ten goals and four assists in 12 appearances. And this form is why there have been a lot of rumours floating around about a possible return to Europe.
But the 33-year-old has himself come out and said how he does not intend to join any club come this winter despite MLS coming to a hold with the turn of the calendar year. Speaking to TV Chosun (via The Standard), Son said:
“I’ve never spoken to any club about a winter move. Such talk is simply untrue. For me, showing respect to my club and giving everything where I play — that’s what matters most. That won’t change.
“I won’t leave LAFC this winter, or ever, while I’m here. I respect this club deeply. As long as I’m wearing this badge, there will be no such thing as a loan or a move. Never.
“I know fans get confused when rumours fly, but those stories aren’t true. And honestly, it might be disrespectful to my team to even talk that way. I love this club, and I have huge respect for everyone here.”

It did look like quite an opportunity for Son to come back to a place in his heart and take a bow. The people around Tottenham Hotspur stadium love him and have cheered for him at the top of their voices for years, and he could have had his Henry moment as well.
But Son has always been kind of a player who stays put and concentrated on what he is doing. And that is what made him an icon at N17.
So irrespective of if he comes and dons that Lilywhite badge again or not, he is still an icon at Tottenham.
