Wilson Odobert is keen to get more minutes at Tottenham Hotspur after a slow start to the 2025/26 season
It is no secret that fresh attacking additions will be the main focus for Tottenham Hotspur when it comes to the winter window. Signing a top-quality left-winger is reportedly regarded as a priority by the club bosses in the next transfer window, as Thomas Frank looks to add goals and creativity to his side from wide areas of the field.
This is because none of the current options have managed to fill in the void created from the departure of iconic figure Son Heung-min in August. None of Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel or Brennan Johnson have done enough to cement a spot in Thomas Frank’s first XI, leaving the left-wing a clear issue to be addressed in 2026.
Wilson Odobert, in particular, has been in and out of the Spurs side this season. After an injury-ravaged debut season in north London, the youngster would have wanted to bring some continuity to his game this term under new boss Thomas Frank. However, that has been far from the case.

Wilson Odobert hungry for more game time at Tottenham
The Frenchman has amassed just 680 minutes across 14 appearances in all competitions. Wilson Odobert has registered a goal and two assists thus far, and he played a crucial role for the Lilywhites making a comeback against Manchester United on Saturday.
Introduced as a substitute at half-time for the injured Randal Kolo Muani, the 20-year-old added some much-needed verve and spark to Tottenham’s attack which was flat for the opening 45 minutes. It was his shot which was deflected home by Richarlison in stoppage-time, as Spurs fans thought they had won the game. However, Matthijs de Ligt rose highest to power home a header in the dying embers of the game to seal a point for Man United and break Tottenham fans’ hearts.
The Tottenham winger has left for international duty during this ongoing break, teaming up with the France Under-21 squad. Having started just six matches this season, Odobert seems content for now but wants more in the future.

“I don’t see why I wouldn’t have more opportunities later on. And I’m going to work hard to do more too,” Odobert said in an interview with RMC Sport.
“Frankly, we’re not setting any limits because, well, we want to go as far as possible in every way. Personally, I’m not worried at all about playing time, because I know that if I work hard, if I do things right, I don’t see why I wouldn’t get more. So, there you have it.
“I’m simply telling myself this in my thesis; it’s just stressing out for nothing. So, I just think, if I’m given something, I eat my plate, and when I’ve finished eating, I’ll ask for more. I think that’s what I need to do.”
Frank and Tottenham fans will be keeping a close eye on Odobert’s performances for France Under-21s over the international break. The Meaux-born talent must be raring to shine again for Les Blues and return to N17 in a positive mood, and most importantly, without any injury concerns. After his impactful appearance off the bench against Man United, Frank may opt to hand the youngster a start in the North London derby after the November break.
