Galatasaray and AS Roma keen to beat Tottenham to prolific Serie A marksman

Tottenham face competition from Galatasaray and AS Roma for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman

Tottenham Hotspur’s attack has been improved by the addition of Mohammed Kudus on the right wing, and they should only get better once Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski return from their injuries. But the left-wing conundrum is something Spurs should address, having failed to do so after the departure of former skipper Son Heung-min in August.

It comes as no surprise as to why the north Londoners have prioritised signing a top-class left-winger in the winter window. And as per recent reports, Tottenham hold an interest in Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.

After a summer where his departure from Atalanta was highly anticipated, with Tottenham coming close to landing him on deadline day but not succeeding, Ademola Lookman remains a coveted asset as the January window approaches. The Nigerian international, who has been among Atalanta’s standout performers in the last two seasons, is now opening the door to leaving Bergamo. As such, he is not short of interest.

According to an exclusive report from SportsBoom, Galatasaray and AS Roma are also monitoring Lookman’s situation at Atalanta.

The 28-year-old’s future in Bergamo has become uncertain after his relationship with the Serie A club has strained in recent weeks, leading to intense speculation. With his contract expiring in June 2027, there is a possibility of Atalanta selling him next year. Bayern Munich are also in the mix, but Galatasaray are the most advanced in their pursuit, having seen a loan approach rebuffed in the summer.

From Tottenham’s perspective, this feels like a golden opportunity. With Son now in MLS and James Maddison sidelined long-term, Frank is pushing hard for another proven attacker to ease the creative burden on Mohammed Kudus. Lookman possesses the qualities required to thrive in Frank’s high-intensity system. The ex-Everton man would provide spark and guile to the one-dimensional Spurs attack, whilst his versatility to play in different positions across the front line adds more value.

The hurdle? Galatasaray at the moment appear to be leading the race for Lookman’s signature. the Turkish champions also hold a unique ace up their sleeve in this pursuit- Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian star could play a pivotal role in convincing his compatriot to join Galatasaray.

But, if Tottenham can offer him an ambitious sporting project, handsome wages and a chance to cut the mustard in the Premier League after previous failed stints, Lookman could be tempted to join them over the Turkish giants. As the Lilywhites are in desperate need of a left wideman, they must strongly pursue the Atalanta ace.
