Thomas Frank could make a telling difference at Tottenham Hotspur this season
Thomas Frank has been unfairly criticised by some sections of the media for Tottenham’s dip in form in the Premier League in recent matches. Under the Danish tactician’s guidance, the Lilywhites currently sit fifth on the league table, just four points shy off second-placed Manchester City. They are also unbeaten in the Champions League, securing eight points from their opening four matches in the competition.
Despite this, some fans believe the leap from managing Brentford to taking charge of Tottenham may have been too steep for the highly regarded manager. Frank’s football may lean towards the pragmatic side, but he has brought stability and belief to N17. The players appear committed to his ideas as they look to build on last season’s Europa League triumph.

The only major concern under Frank has been Tottenham’s poor home form in the Premier League. They have dropped points in five of their first six matches at N17, with their sole victory coming against Burnley on the opening day. This is the main reason the media have been so quick to target the Spurs boss as he attempts to close the gap on the club’s rivals in the coming months.
Thomas Frank backed to succeed at Tottenham as campaign progresses
It is worth remembering that Tottenham finished just one place above the relegation zone last season. To go from that position to competing for a Champions League spot is an achievement in itself. Thanks to Frank, the Lilywhites look organised and composed against difficult opponents. The team has rediscovered its defensive solidity, with every player being used in a role that suits their strengths.
Darren Ambrose has now made a bold claim about Thomas Frank that is sure to raise a few eyebrows. Speaking on talkSPORT, Ambrose said,
“He’s come in and he’s a victim of what’s happening last season as well. It’s a new team and a new manager. Currently fifth in the Premier League and unbeaten in the Champions League. That’s positive.”
The ex-player added,
“I’ll go as far as saying, if you tweak that home form and you keep the away form you’re getting, you’re competing for top four this season. So from 17th last season to top four this season, if that happens, he’s got to win ‘Manager of the Season,’ Thomas Frank.”
Ambrose believes Frank has transformed the club’s fortunes this season after taking charge at a time when Tottenham were struggling domestically. He also argues that the Danish manager would be deserving of the ‘Manager of the Season’ award if Spurs were to climb from 17th last season to Champions League qualification this time around.
It is certainly a bold statement from Darren Ambrose. There are several other strong contenders who merit consideration for the ‘Manager of the Season’ award. More importantly, Frank has not yet achieved enough to be part of that conversation. Spurs still look below par in many matches and have struggled to maintain consistency in recent weeks.
The Danish tactician must focus on the challenges ahead at N17. Improving home form will be crucial if he hopes to close the gap on Tottenham’s rivals. Much will depend on his tactical flexibility and on the players stepping up when needed. Fans will hope that Frank is able to work his magic once again and guide the Lilywhites to further success in the future.
