“I’m not oblivious”- PL star weighs in on amid ‘annoyed’ claims as Tottenham circle

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo opens up as Tottenham Hotspur eye 2026 deal

Antoine Semenyo has revealed he remains committed to Bournemouth despite continued interest from Tottenham, with the Ghanaian reportedly annoyed by suggestions he has requested a transfer away from the Vitality Stadium.

The 25-year-old forward signed a new five-year contract until 2030 in July after Spurs pursued him during the summer window, only for Thomas Frank’s side to ultimately secure Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55 million instead.

Semenyo has registered six goals and three assists across 11 Premier League appearances this season, making him the joint-third highest scorer in the division behind only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago. His explosive form has propelled Bournemouth to second place and reignited interest from clubs including Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

According to Football London (h/t Sky Sports), when pressed by Jamie Redknapp about his future earlier this month, Semenyo stated he is focused on the present rather than transfer speculation. He stated:

“I don’t think about it too much. I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I’m not oblivious, but I try to keep focused.”

“I’m enjoying my football here. If I’m not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens. When they all left, there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club.”

“But I knew in my head that the manager’s got something up his sleeve this year. How we finished off the season last year was so good and we could continue, especially with the players we’ve bought in as well. I wasn’t too sure at the start but we’ve kicked on like a house on fire. I’m glad I committed to staying here because I’m enjoying every moment.”

Tottenham targeted Semenyo heavily during the summer transfer window before the move collapsed. Frank viewed the Ghanaian as the left-sided attacker capable of providing directness and goal threat to address gaps in Spurs’ attacking options. However, Bournemouth’s high valuation and Semenyo’s own decision to stay complicated negotiations.

Following the collapsed Semenyo pursuit, Tottenham pivoted to signing Kudus from West Ham. The Ghanaian midfielder has started brightly with four goals in his opening 11 Premier League appearances, providing the attacking quality Frank demanded. However, Spurs continue to monitor options for additional firepower as they compete across multiple competitions.

Sky Sports reports that Semenyo is happy at Bournemouth and annoyed by suggestions he wants to leave. His 13-goal haul across all competitions last season demonstrated his Premier League quality, but the forward appears determined to help the Cherries achieve their ambitions rather than pursue a move to a bigger club.

Will Tottenham renew their interest in Semenyo?

Whether Tottenham renew their interest in January remains unclear. The release clause inserted into Semenyo’s contract provides a potential pathway to a deal, though the exact figure and activation timing remain undisclosed.

For now, Semenyo’s focus remains on maintaining Bournemouth’s momentum and scoring goals. His performances will continue attracting attention from top clubs, but his public commitment to staying suggests any potential move would need to wait until summer at the earliest.
