Thomas Frank is under serious pressure to address some glaring issues at home at Tottenham Hotspur this season
Tottenham’s home form remains a puzzle that no one can quite explain right now, least of all Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites sit fifth in the Premier League with 18 points from their opening 11 matches. Yet, surprisingly, 13 of those 18 points have been collected away from home under the Danish tactician. As impressive as that may be, the North Londoners are struggling to produce positive results at N17.
Spurs have won only one of their first six Premier League home matches this season, with that sole victory coming against Burnley on opening day. Since then, the Lilywhites have failed to build any momentum, piling pressure on Thomas Frank. Supporters have also expressed their concerns, arguing that their home ground no longer feels like the fortress it once was.

The pragmatic approach adopted by Thomas Frank appears to be holding the club back at a time when it is expected to compete with the league’s top sides. The Danish manager tends to take a safer route at home, which often leads to defensive performances that allow opponents to exploit the system and setup.
Tottenham not playing entertaining football under Thomas Frank at N17
Tottenham’s games against Chelsea and Bournemouth highlighted clear warning signs that Frank is more focused on avoiding goals than securing wins at home. There is a clear contrast between their performances and results at home compared to those away from N17. The North Londoners play with noticeable caution in front of their own supporters, creating a tense and frustrated atmosphere when things begin to unravel.
Danny Murphy has now pointed out what he believes is a major flaw in Tottenham’s home performances in the Premier League this season. Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said,
“The reason for Frank’s criticism is simple that their poor performances have come at home in front of 60,000 fans that go every game. Their away record is brilliant. I think it is the best record in the Premier League.”
The pundit added,
“If you switch that and have all the good stuff at home and have some bad results away, fans are a bit more forgiving. The problem is at home as well in the games where they’ve lost and drawn, they’ve lacked creativity and it’s been a hard watch.”
Murphy claims that much of the criticism aimed at Thomas Frank stems from Tottenham’s poor home form. Fans are frustrated that the Lilywhites continue to drop points at N17 while underperforming in most matches. He also acknowledges that Frank’s team lacks creativity and that their defensive-minded approach is pushing match-going supporters to question the Danish tactician’s methods.
The match-going fans pay significant money to watch their team play at a world-class stadium. Yet the performances this season have not met the standards expected on a weekly basis. It is therefore understandable that questions are being raised about Thomas Frank’s vision as he looks to build on last season’s Europa League triumph. Only time will tell how the Dane responds to the challenge of turning their home form around and winning the supporters back.
