Tottenham could receive a windfall for Troy Parrott if AZ Alkmaar sells him in 2026 amid Everton interest
Tottenham Hotspur have made smart investments over the years, bringing in highly-rated young talents to the club. The acquisition of players such as Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel and Xavi Simons and many more in the last few transfer windows clearly shows the club’s long-term vision and planning at White Hart Lane.
Credit to the Hotspur Way chiefs for making some shrewd acquisitions with an eye for the future. At the same time, they must be praised for selling well. When the Lilywhites found out certain players are not good enough to compete at a high level, they have sold them by attaching certain clauses. And one of the players Tottenham decided to offload from their books was Troy Parrott.
Once tipped as the next Harry Kane at Tottenham, Troy Parrott was let go in 2024 after five loan spells and lack of first-team minutes. They sold the centre-forward to AZ Alkmaar in a £6.7m deal and reportedly inserted a 20% sell-on clause ahead of any potential future transfer for the 23-year-old.
Parrott netted 20 goals in 47 appearances in his debut season for AZ Alkmaar. The Dublin-born talent has followed it up with 13 goals in 14 outings in all competitions so far this term, despite some injury concerns. This demonstrates that he has finally found a home in his career.

Parrott makes headlines for Republic of Ireland
Parrott scripted headlines on Sunday by scoring a fantastic hat-trick that delivered the Republic of Ireland into the World Cup playoffs, denying Hungary at the death. To cap a remarkable week in Irish football history, the two-goal hero of Portugal’s shock defeat in Dublin last week, stunned the Puskas Arena into dead silence in injury time by scoring his third goal.
Daniel Lukacs’ fourth-minute header gave Hungary the ideal start, and while Parrott’s penalty brought the Irish level, Barnabas Varga’s great strike restored the home side’s lead before the break. In an intriguing second half, Parrott’s deft finish 10 minutes from time gave his nation renewed hope. And after substitute Johnny Kenny was denied by Hungary goalkeeper, Parrott poked home the winner from close to spark wild celebrations among the Irish contingent.
With a double and a hat-trick against Portugal and Hungary respectively, the 23-year-old has played a central role in taking his country a step towards World Cup 2026 qualification, and his recent efforts haven’t been ignored.

Everton have been scouting Parrott
According to an exclusive report from Everton News, Everton scouts were in attendance to watch Parrott in action against Portugal last week. They’d be extremely satisfied with the scouting trip as the 23-year-old scored twice in Republic of Ireland’s shock win over Portugal.
The Toffees want to sign a striker in the winter window following struggles of Beto, and Thierno Barry’s underwhelming start to life in the Premier League. Parrott has emerged on their radar following strong performances at AZ Alkmaar, with the Merseysiders tracking his progress throughout this season. Should Everton decide to sign Parrott in January, Spurs would receive a windfall from a potential deal, thanks to the 20 per cent sell-on-clause.
Despite managing just four senior appearance for Tottenham, the Irish forward’s potential move to David Moyes’ side would benefit his former employers. A cash windfall of any capacity would make a huge difference in the transfer budget of the January window where the North Londoners have several areas to reinforce.
