Tottenham can land La Liga star for £52million in ‘straightforward; January deal

Tottenham Hotspur must fork out £52 million to land Takefusa Kubo in January

Tottenham Hotspur seem set to push their wide options forward again, and the latest talk centres on Takefusa Kubo, with Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider reporting that the Real Sociedad winger sits firmly on their radar. Moreover, interest in him has grown slowly over recent years, as Liverpool and Aston Villa kept an eye on him during his progress in Spain, while Tottenham tracked him with growing curiosity.

Then, as O’Rourke explained, scouts across Europe admire the way he carries Real Sociedad’s attacks with his movement and consistent output, which makes him a natural fit for clubs searching for extra threat on the flanks.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old’s contract includes a release clause, and this detail gives Tottenham a clear path if they choose to act in January. Furthermore, the figure of £52 million forces decision-makers to judge whether they feel his impact justifies the fee, and this debate will determine how far they go in the next window. Additionally, his consistent form for Japan boosts his case, since he keeps producing lively performances that show his confidence at the senior level.

Consequently, Tottenham have a simple route if they commit, but the price pushes them to think hard, and their next move will reveal how serious they are about bringing Kubo to north London.

“He has got a release clause in his contract, so it would be straightforward if Tottenham wanted to go and sign him in January.

“£52million, it’s not a cheap deal by any stretch of the imagination. So, that will come into consideration if Tottenham are to firm up their interest in Kubo as well.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham are making moves regarding other members in their squad as well. A report has now provided an update on Mathys Tel’s immediate future. The report claims the Frenchman is open to leaving the club either permanently or on loan, as he seeks regular playing time.

Why are Spurs looking for Kubo?

Tottenham might look at Takefusa Kubo for a clear reason, and the idea is picking up pace because they face a long-term gap after Son Heung-min’s exit. Kubo offers quick feet, constant movement, and reliable creativity, and Spurs value those traits because their attack lost fluency in wide areas last season. Moreover, he puts in consistent work on the right side for Real Sociedad, and his control in tight pockets often shifts pressure in matches that demand precision in the final third.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old’s ability to switch positions will give Thomas Frank room to shape different patterns in a 4-2-3-1. Frank could open space for him on the right, yet he could just as easily move Kubo inside for quick link-ups with the central forward, which will keep defenders on the back foot. Then again, Kubo’s work on either flank could help the passing routes Frank counts on, as the system leans on wide exchanges and consistent crosses.

Spurs do understand that Real Sociedad will ask for a substantial fee, yet they may still judge his age and growth in a strong league as reasons to commit. He does fit Frank’s approach well, and he looks like a reasonable attempt to repair the loss of Son’s final-third threat.
