Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Harry Kane’s developing situation at Bayern Munich
Tottenham prioritised attacking reinforcements in the summer as they looked to build on last season’s Europa League success. The Lilywhites brought in top-quality, high-profile players such as Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to strengthen their attack and give Thomas Frank a genuine chance of closing the gap on their rivals this season.
However, they failed to address one glaring issue that has lingered since Harry Kane departed in 2023. The North Londoners have yet to find a proper successor for the England international, leaving Thomas Frank reliant on the inconsistent Richarlison to lead the line. Dominic Solanke, the club’s marquee addition last year, has also struggled at N17 and is yet to feature prominently this season.

Of Tottenham’s 31 goals across all competitions this campaign, only four have come from their No.9s. This statistic highlights how far behind they are in that department, especially when other clubs continue to invest in prolific strikers season after season. Spurs desperately need a forward capable of leading the line and scoring consistently.
A ‘Harry Kane’ return would solve a lot of problems at Tottenham
Tottenham are actively searching for a new striker as Thomas Frank looks to close the gap on the club’s rivals in the coming years. Reports suggest the Lilywhites are keen on bringing Harry Kane back to N17 next summer, particularly after indications that his Bayern Munich future is uncertain. His release clause will drop to £57 million next year, encouraging Spurs to explore the possibility of a sensational return.
Alasdair Gold, however, believes that a reunion remains unlikely, even though he would love to see it happen. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold said,
“I don’t know if Harry Kane will come back. I would love for him to come back at some point. I just don’t know. Just the way he was talking and I know he’s going to be respectful to Bayern, but I don’t know if a return to the Premier League is as big a deal just by listening to the last way he spoke about it.”
Gold acknowledges that Kane returning to N17 would solve many of Tottenham’s problems, as the striker is a club legend and a proven goalscorer. But he also points out that Kane seems content at Bayern Munich and is enjoying life under Vincent Kompany, making a Premier League return less likely for now.
Still, no one truly knows what the future holds, and there remains optimism around N17 that Kane could eventually return and wear the Lilywhite shirt again. The 32-year-old is within touching distance of breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record, and he may be determined to surpass it and cement his legacy.
Yet sentiment aside, Kane still has major ambitions in football and wants to win more silverware. If staying at Bayern Munich allows him to achieve those goals, then a move back to Tottenham may not make sense at this stage. The Lilywhites are still in transition, and it will take time before they are consistently competing with Europe’s elite once again.
