Opta’s Supercomputer backs Arsenal to defeat Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday
Tottenham headed into the international break after their dramatic 2-2 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League. The Lilywhites are now set to visit the Emirates Stadium to take on arch rivals Arsenal this weekend.
Spurs will look to upset the league leaders and potentially enter the top four. However, as per Tottenham News, Opta’s Supercomputer does not favor their chances. According to the Supercomputer’s analysis, the Gunners have a 69 per cent chance of securing all three points. Whereas, Spurs only have a 13.7 per cent chance of pulling off an upset. There is a 17.3 per cent chance of the game ending in a draw.
This statistic does not come as a surprise, as Arsenal have been extremely dominant this season. Their sole league defeat came at the hands of Liverpool back in August. The Gunners have secured 26 points from their opening 11 matches and are currently four points clear of second-place Manchester City at the top.
On the other hand, Tottenham has largely struggled this season. They are currently plagued by a mounting list of injuries, and the attackers are struggling to find their form. Tottenham were heavily criticized after their dismal 1-0 defeat against Chelsea earlier this month. In this game, Spurs failed to create chances and recorded a shocking expected goals (xG) figure of just 0.05, the lowest figure since the Premier League began tracking such stats.
The Lilywhites stand fifth in the league, tied on 18 points with Aston Villa, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Bournemouth. A defeat in the North London derby could result in Spurs dropping as low as 10th in the league.
Tottenham’s worrying record against Arsenal
To make matters worse, Thomas Frank has a wasteful head-to-head record against Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. Frank has faced Arteta on nine occasions but has only managed to record a single win.
Tottenham have lost four out of their last five games against Arsenal, with one game ending in a draw. Key attackers like Dominic Solanke and James Maddison are still sidelined with injuries.
