Maghnes Akliouche tempted to test himself in the Premier League amid Tottenham Hotspur interest
Tottenham showed real ambition in the summer, spending more than €180m on high-profile, ready-made signings. In hindsight, the Lilywhites used their money wisely, addressing several long-standing weaknesses that had hindered the club’s development in recent seasons. The arrivals of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani added much-needed depth and quality in the final third.
However, the ongoing injury crisis at N17 highlights that there is still plenty of work to be done if Spurs are serious about closing the gap on their rivals this season. With James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski ruled out for almost the entire campaign, Tottenham made a late push to bring in another playmaker before the summer window closed.

They approached the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze in hopes of landing one of them, but both players ultimately rejected the chance to join Spurs for various reasons. The North Londoners also made an attempt to sign AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche before the season began, but the French club’s £47.5m asking price was deemed too high at the time.
Tottenham still in the running for AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche’s signature
Tottenham have not given up on their pursuit of Akliouche. Recent reports suggest that the club sent scouts to monitor him during the November international break as he featured for France. His strong performances have impressed the Spurs hierarchy, and he has now emerged as a priority target for the upcoming transfer window.
Now, reliable journalist Mark Brus has shared another promising update regarding the 22-year-old. Writing for the Daily Briefing, Brus said,
“It will be interested to see if Spurs follow up on their interest with an official proposal. to get the deal done in January. Monaco are likely to demand a premium if Spurs come calling. Akliouche is a prodigious young talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a key player for Tottenham with the right guidance.”
The journo added,
“Regular football in England could bring out the best in him and accelerate his development. Tottenham have an ambitious project, and the player is likely to be tempted to join them.”
Monaco will only sanction Akliouche’s sale in January if they receive a strong and convincing offer in the coming weeks. Brus believes the France international possesses all the qualities needed to thrive at N17 under Thomas Frank, and he suggests that the ambitious Spurs project is appealing enough for the winger to seriously consider a move if an agreement can be reached.
Akliouche has all the tools to become a top-level star in the near future. He caused Tottenham significant problems when the two sides met in Monaco during their Champions League clash last month, standing out as one of the best performers on the pitch with his dribbling, close control, and flair.

It goes without saying that signing the Frenchman would instantly strengthen Tottenham’s attacking options. He would fit seamlessly into Thomas Frank’s system and provide vital depth in the final third. Naturally a right winger, Akliouche would also add creativity and a different dynamic to the Spurs frontline.
