“Underestimating”- Piers Morgan gives brutal verdict on upcoming North London Derby as Tottenham prepare for stern test against the Gunners

Tottenham travel to the Emirates Stadium for their Premier League clash against Arsenal

Tottenham are preparing for their biggest challenge of the season as they face Arsenal in the North London Derby this weekend. The Lilywhites are determined to turn their Premier League form around after struggling against difficult opponents in recent weeks. There is no better way to regain momentum than by beating their local rivals and putting a dent in their title ambitions.

Thomas Frank’s side will come up against a resilient Arsenal team that have arguably been the best in England this season. The Gunners went on a ten-match winning run in all competitions before being held to a draw by Sunderland earlier this month. They have shown almost no weaknesses so far, scoring freely whilst keeping seven clean sheets in the Premier League.

To make matters more challenging, Spurs have not won an away fixture against Arsenal since 2010. Their record at the Emirates Stadium is poor, underlining how difficult a task it will be for Frank to secure three points on enemy territory. However, the Lilywhites may take encouragement from their strong away form in the league this season as the derby approaches.

Tottenham remain underdogs against Arsenal as fans prepare for blockbuster clash

Tottenham will need to be at their very best to secure a positive result this weekend. With Manchester City dropping points against Newcastle United, the North London Derby has suddenly become crucial for both sides for different reasons. A win for Arsenal would extend their lead at the top to seven points, while a victory for Spurs would move Thomas Frank’s men to within just two points of second-placed City.

Piers Morgan, however, has dismissed any notion of Spurs taking something from the match. Speaking on talkSPORT (via X), Morgan said,

“5-0, and to be honest, I’m being serious with you, I think I might be underestimating what may happen. I think we’re going to absolutely batter them.”

Morgan’s prediction reflects clear overconfidence. Even if Spurs fall short, it is unlikely the scoreline would resemble a heavy defeat. Being the underdog may even work in Tottenham’s favour, freeing them from the pressure of expectation and allowing them to focus on their natural game.

Spurs have excelled away from home thanks to their pragmatic approach this season. Thomas Frank has set up his team well to frustrate opponents and exploit counter-attacking opportunities. The same strategy could be effective against an Arsenal side that will look to dominate the game and push forward in front of their home support. A win against the Gunners would provide the perfect platform for Frank’s men to build on in the weeks ahead.

Will Mikel Arteta’s men excel against the Lilywhites once again? Or has the time finally come for Spurs to clinch an unlikely result? Let us know in the comments below.
