Tottenham Hotspur have quite a few young players among the booms at Hotspur Way, and some are making their way through the academy, while others are striving for some first-team football on loan away from N17.
And among the latter is Yang Min-Hyeok, who has been on loan at Portsmouth for the ongoing campaign. He did enjoy a bright start to his time in the Championship, but then he has seen his steep drop in minutes of late. He has only managed to accumulate seven minutes under his belt in the last three league games for his temporary employers.
The 19-year-old South Korean ace was an unused substitute in Portsmouth’s 3-1 win over Millwall. This has seen a heavy spark of familiar fears about another loan that went on to stall, given how Tottenham have seen a lot of this happening in the recent campaign.
Tottenham fans told to keep cool over Yang Min-Hyeok situation

But the Lilywhites faithful have been urged to keep their cool over this recent drop in minutes.
Owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, John Wenham has pushed back on the noise around potentially calling back the 19-year-old. While speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham has backed the Spurs starlet to pick up another purple patch of form at Fratton Park. He said:
“I’m not going to worry about it too much because if you remember at the very start of the season, he couldn’t get in the team whatsoever and their fans were screaming, sending him back and all this kind of nonsense.
“Then he got in the team and he was delivering. He was scoring; his confidence was high. I know he’s coming off the bench in the last couple of games, but I think he’ll have another pickup patch again soon.”
TTLB Opinion

While Tottenham will be looking quite closely towards his minutes, the fact that he has shown capabilities to get himself back among contention will also be playing on the minds of the decision-makers at N17. This will also be an opportunity to show his mettle. And then pulling the plug on a loan too soon can be counterproductive as well (especially in terms of development).
Yang Min-Hyeok has had a couple of goals alongside one assist to show for in the ongoing campaign. And given how good he is, there is a potential for him to get more going deep into the season. For the North Londoners, it will not be about whether he can grab headlines with his output, though, but instead it will be about his development.
Do you think Tottenham should call back Yang Min-Hyeok and maybe pursue a loan to a club where he gets more minutes, or would you rather let him fight it out at Portsmouth? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
