Eberechi Eze silenced Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank in the North London derby
Thomas Frank may be regretting his pre-match comments about Eberechi Eze after the Arsenal playmaker delivered a masterclass that tore Tottenham apart at the Emirates Stadium.
Ahead of today’s North London Derby, Frank brushed off questions about the England international with a flippant “Who’s Eze?” remark, joking about the summer transfer saga that saw Arsenal hijack Tottenham’s move for the former Crystal Palace talisman.
Spurs were set to secure a major statement signing in August when they made their move for Eze, but the transfer was snatched away at the final hour by their North London rivals. Tottenham instead pivoted to Xavi Simons, a decision that has backfired spectacularly, given the Dutchman’s struggles to adapt.

“I really like to speak about players who are here. The only other two I will speak about are (Lionel) Messi and (Cristiano) Ronaldo.”

“But we know that’s one thing, on one game, 100 per cent sure we will be very competitive. Of course we can win on Sunday. Then of course in general we know squad depth is good and important but I’m not really looking at other teams. I’m just looking at my team there.”
Those words now ring hollow after Eze’s devastating display left Tottenham humiliated on enemy territory. Frank’s attempt to downplay the significance of missing out on the England international has been thoroughly exposed, with Arsenal’s hijacking of the deal proving to be a masterstroke.
