Tottenham Hotspur had a difficult visit to the Emirates Stadium earlier today, as the Gunners got better of the Lilywhites on a 4-1 scoreline.
It was a story of someone who nearly joined Spurs in the summer, as a Leandro Trossard goal followed by an Eberechi Eze hat trick was enough for the hosts to secure all three points.
The game always looked like it revolved around the Gunners from the get-go. Mikel Arteta’s side were so dominant that Tottenham barely smelt anything almost all game. It was a kind of domination that showed how far Thomas Frank & Co. really are in terms of quality.
The fact that the Lilywhites barely got any hint at David Raya’s goal till Richarlison scored almost out of nothing showed how the Gunners put in a mature performance, one that is quite difficult to replicate.

And it could have been worse, but Vicario came up with the goods once again. The 29-year-old made four saves, and a couple of them at least were those dangerous shots from Bukayo Saka and Ebere Eze, which could have made it worse for the Lilywhites.
Speaking in an interview after the game, the Tottenham #1 went on to apologise to the fans for the performance before insisting that the current roster have to stick together and put in an impressive performance going into the midweek game.
Reflecting after the game, Vicario said (via BBC)
“Today we didn’t fight. We have to apologise first of all for this. But we have to stick together and move on because on Wednesday we have a big night.”

This one has got to hurt, especially given the manner of defeat. Given that going into the game many supporters already knew that Arsenal have that quality about them this season, but given how they performed, they showed that they are leaps and bounds ahead of Tottenham right now.
Though the players can apologise and say many things off the pitch, it is about showing off that performance on it (which we have not seen from Tottenham in the Premier League for a while now).
But while this one hurts, it could get worse for the Lilywhites in the midweek when the Dane head coach takes this team to Paris as they face PSG in the Champions League. And it is very important for Tottenham to go there and ensure that the performance on Wednesday night is nowhere near what we saw from them today.
