Reliable journalist claims Tottenham are eyeing a striker and winger additions in the January transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly started planning behind the scenes to reinforce the squad in the January transfer window.
Spurs have dropped out of top four following poor performances in recent weeks. The 4-1 embarrassment at the hands of arch-rivals Arsenal highlighted just how much the Lilywhites are lacking quality in several areas of the pitch. The disappointment at the Emirates Stadium last weekend should serve as a timely reminder that Tottenham are nowhere equipped to challenge for the Champions League spots this season.
Despite spending £180m in the summer, the north Londoners must show their ambition in the upcoming winter window and further strengthen their roster. With the Lewis family investing £100m capital into the club last month, they must invest wisely if they intend to become a competitive team under Thomas Frank.

Tottenham eyeing attacking reinforcements in January
According to Football Insider’s transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham would ideally like to add a striker and a winger in the January window, if the funds are made available.
Frank’s side have been facing major problems with scoring goals, with Dominic Solanke sidelined for several months. Richarlison has blown hot and cold, while on-loan striker Randal Kolo Muani is still getting to grips with Premier League football. Despite scoring a wonder goal against Arsenal, Richarlison is not viewed as a long-term solution to the club’s goalscoring woes.
In addition, the Spurs gaffer also wants to add a winger to his squad to help address the creative conundrum. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane, with the winger’s £65million release clause coming to light recently. If Tottenham can persuade Semenyo of their project, Bournemouth would be compelled to accept a bid of £65million.

Samu Aghehowa could be Tottenham’s answer to goalscoring issues
FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa has emerged as one of the top targets for Tottenham. Recent reports suggest the Europa League champions are planning to launch a move for the FC Porto striker imminently.
Samu Aghehowa has been rated as one of the highly-rated young strikers in Europe, thanks to his combination of his pace, power and physicality. The 21-year-old would immediately lift the quality of Tottenham’s squad and provide the team with a much-needed focal point. The stumbling block for Spurs could be the price as he has a €100 million release clause in his contract at Porto.
So, it’d be a test of ambition for the Lilywhites. As the club has been boosted by the Lewis Family’s investment in October, Frank should push the board to make some exciting attacking additions in the New Year.
