Tottenham Hotspur could enjoy a busy January window with £100m transfer kitty on hand
Tottenham have endured a ‘stop-start’ campaign under Thomas Frank this season. The Lilywhites have shown glimpses of their true potential under the Danish tactician’s guidance on more than one occasion. But on the other hand, Frank’s pragmatic approach has also exposed some weaknesses in the squad that need to be rectified in the upcoming transfer window.
The North Londoners opened the season in impressive fashion, winning four of their first five matches across all competitions. The strong start created a sense of optimism around N17, with many fans believing Spurs would build on last season’s Europa League triumph and push for more silverware. But reality set in quickly, as the Lilywhites crashed out of the Carabao Cup following a fourth-round defeat to Newcastle United.

Their form has dipped sharply since then, with Thomas Frank attracting headlines for all the wrong reasons at N17. Spurs have managed just three wins from their last 12 matches in all competitions, with the Danish manager under increasing pressure due to his team’s poor performances. Consecutive London derby defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea have only increased the growing frustration among supporters.
Tottenham are all set to back Thomas Frank in January
Tottenham must bring in fresh reinforcements in January if they want to revive their Premier League campaign. Currently, the Lilywhites sit ninth in the table, level on points with Manchester United. Despite the inconsistency, they remain within reach of the top four and a potential return to European football. All hope is not lost, but new signings are essential to strengthen the squad for the second half of the season.
According to Dean Jones (via TEAMtalk), Spurs have £100m available to spend in the upcoming winter window. The recent cash injection from the Lewis family gives the Lilywhites a strong financial platform to operate from. Crucially, the funds are allocated solely for transfers and wages, giving Tottenham a potential advantage over rival clubs when negotiating with key targets.
It is crucial that the Spurs hierarchy focus on signing players who can make an immediate impact under Thomas Frank. The North Londoners cannot afford to invest in raw prospects or long-term projects. The club must now take the next step by bringing in proven, top-level players who can instantly elevate the squad and help close the gap on the teams above them.
Boosting the attack is considered a top priority. Tottenham need solutions both through the middle and on the left flank if they are to build on last season’s European success. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo has emerged as a potential target for the left-wing role, with the club confident he would adapt well to Thomas Frank’s system.
On the other hand, Spurs are also in the market for a new centre-forward to compete with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison. The club is targeting an experienced, clinical, and ready-made striker. Porto star Samu Aghehowa appears to be the leading candidate, with Tottenham exploring the possibility of securing his services in the coming weeks.
