A 5-3 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t helped his cause, as certain sections of the fan base are already calling for his head, having quickly grown tired of the Danish boss’ lethargic and bland style of football. There were signs of promise in Thomas Frank’s early tenure, with the Lilywhites looking disciplined and organised at the back and not getting outworked in midfield, at least. However, that has fizzled away in recent weeks.
There has been this sense of a lack of invention and dynamism that has been going on for a while now at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the 52-year-old’s safety-first approach has been rightly criticised by the fans, pundits and media outlets. Former Spurs defender Ramon Vega recently blasted Thomas Frank for being unfit to take the club forward, questioning his ability to control the dressing room. However, Thomas Frank has admitted he is the right man for the Tottenham job and wants to take the club to the top.

Reliable journalist Dean Jones claims Tottenham are not planning to sack Frank as their head coach anytime soon. When asked about the present feelings of the club’s hierarchy regarding Frank’s future, Dean Jones exclusively told TEAMtalk:
“I do not get the impression Spurs are about to panic about the recent results to the extent it’s going to cost the manager his job.
“There is no doubt he has experienced a tough month, but it is moments like this when Spurs bosses have to remain strong and believe in the reasons they hired him for the long-term.
“We should not forget that Mikel Arteta suffered some very tough times at Arsenal in order to get to the place they are now in, so patience can pay off.
“I am expecting Tottenham to show that similar level of faith in Frank.
“The atmosphere around what has happened this week is a test, but they have a decent run of games now on paper that should ease the anxiety levels a bit. Also, they’ll have players returning from injury and a couple of changes in the January transfer window that are going to be helpful.
“Obviously, if all of that doesn’t go to plan, then it will be a new level of discomfort to discuss, but for now, I am told the boss is not under threat.”

Tottenham remain determined to give Frank more time to turn the club’s fortunes around. He was appointed as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement on a long-term project, and it does not look like the hierarchy have started losing patience despite the recent performances and results of the team. Of course, it is a major disappointment to see the Lilywhites not hitting the standards expected of them and the fans are rightly frustrated, but the board is seemingly not planning to scrap Frank’s rebuilding job.
Surely, results must improve if the Dane is to keep his job at White Hart Lane, and winning against Fulham in the London derby would calm some nerves down around the Hotspur Way. However, if the ex-Brentford boss is going to continually stick to his safety-first approach and counter-attacking style of football, then it could prove too catastrophic for him.
