Tottenham vs Fulham result very ‘obvious’; PL legend has little doubt

Chris Sutton expects Tottenham Hotspur to draw 1-1 vs Fulham

Tottenham have endured a difficult week of results since club football resumed following the November international break. The Lilywhites have conceded nine goals in their last two matches, exposing some glaring weaknesses in Thomas Frank’s squad. They let in four goals in the North London derby against Arsenal before conceding another five in Europe to PSG.

The defeat to the Gunners was particularly painful, especially as Thomas Frank’s side were never truly competitive on the day. They sat deep, absorbed pressure, and eventually collapsed against the league leaders. To add to the frustration, Spurs supporters had to watch Eberechi Eze, who had been heavily linked with a move to N17 throughout the summer, score a hat-trick against them at the Emirates Stadium.

Thomas Frank’s Tottenham take on Marco Silva’s Fulham in a mouthwatering London derby on Saturday.

Their performance in Europe against PSG did provide some encouragement, as Frank learned from his earlier mistakes and adopted a far more aggressive approach. The Lilywhites took the lead against the French champions twice and played impressive football for the first hour. But a chaotic 12-minute spell allowed Luis Enrique’s side to overturn the match, scoring three quick goals to secure all three points.

Tottenham face a tricky opposition in Fulham next

Tottenham’s loss to Arsenal has dropped the club to ninth in the Premier League, leaving them three points outside the top four. The responsibility now falls on Thomas Frank and his players to reverse their form as they prepare to face an out-of-form Fulham side. With the match taking place at N17, the Lilywhites also have a chance to secure their first home league victory since opening day.

Chris Sutton, however, believes the North London club will drop points again and slip further behind in the table. Sharing his prediction with the BBC, Sutton said,

“Tottenham played well in their defeat by Paris St-Germain on Wednesday and that makes me think they might have too much for Fulham. Marco Silva’s side really needed their win over Sunderland to avoid being dragged into the relegation scrap, and they are still not out of trouble.”

The pundit added,

“Fulham’s away record is pretty awful but then so is Tottenham’s home form, so the obvious thing to go for here is a draw. 1-1.”

Tottenham’s performance against PSG was a sign of positive things to come, and the players in the dressing room will be up for the challenge against Fulham. The Cottagers, on the other hand, need to clinch a positive result too as they look to stay away from a potential relegation fight. With Marco Silva’s men struggling away from home, and the Lilywhites having a poor home record, Sutton believes that predicting a 1-1 draw is the safest bet.

The onus is now on Thomas Frank to turn the fortunes around at home and make the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a fortress again. Shockingly, the Lilywhites have won just three league matches at N17 in 2025. This is something that needs to change quickly if Spurs are to compete for European qualification in the coming months and eventually close the gap on their rivals this season. A win against Fulham would certainly be a good start.
