Tottenham are desperate to return back to winning ways when they face Newcastle United at St James’ Park
Aiming to get back to winning ways, Tottenham Hotspur travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.
Spurs endured another defeat in a London derby, this time losing 2-1 at home to Fulham. Fans had expected the team to take positives from the Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain and beat Fulham to ease the pressure on Thomas Frank. However, that was not the case. The Lilywhites found themselves 2-0 down inside seven minutes, with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario gifting the Cottagers the second goal with his horrible decision making.
Just a solitary victory in last six games in all competitions has left Thomas Frank in a spot of bother. The Dane, who was upset with sections of fans booing Vicario during the game, has to get the club’s season back on track. He comes up against Newcastle United, who are a strong force at home and welcome Tottenham on the back of smashing Everton 4-1 away. It is worth noting that, Thomas Bramall has been appointed the referee for the Newcastle vs Tottenham game.

Team News for Tottenham and Newcastle
Cristian Romero is available for selection again for Tottenham after serving a one-game suspension, but Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma and Radu Dragusin all remain out. Ben Davies has been a part of the squad for the last two games after recovering from hamstring injury but is yet to feature for Spurs this season.

As for Newcastle, Nick Pope has entered the treatment table after suffering a groin problem. This led to Aaron Ramsdale starting in goal vs. Everton. Sven Botman and Emil Krafth are doubtful, but Will Osula is out with an ankle problem. Yoane Wissa is yet to feature for Newcastle since joining from Brentford in the summer, having been sidelined with a knee injury.
TTLB prediction for Tottenham vs. Newcastle
Tottenham are royally struggling with form and still missing several key players. Romero’s return from suspension is a boost, but the defence has been extremely leaky in recent times unlike the opening months of the campaign. 13 goals conceded in the last four games is alarming from a defensive point of view.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have won three of their last five games, including beating Manchester City at home. The Magpies finally ended their dismal away record since the start of the season by trouncing Everton at the weekend, giving them the perfect tonic before welcoming Spurs. They also hold an upper hand over Tottenham in recent years and dumped them out of this campaign’s Carabao Cup fourth round in October.
The signs are ominous for Frank’s side as we expect their misery to continue in Tyneside in midweek. Score prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Tottenham
