Tottenham travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United in the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur make the trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
Spurs’ 2-1 home defeat to Fulham on Saturday ignited yet another wave of frustration among supporters. They found themselves 2-0 down inside seven minutes, leaving the Tottenham faithful totally stunned and Thomas Frank in utter disbelief. The Dane stood on the touchline watching his team unravel in another calamitous display at home.
It was the Lilywhites’ 10th home loss in the Premier League this calendar year, and Thomas Frank admitted after the game his team is struggling with confidence at the moment. Things do not get easy for Thomas Frank and Co. as they take on Newcastle United in midweek.

Newcastle United vs Tottenham- Match preview and head to head
Tottenham have dropped to 12th in the league table following just one win in their last five games. Since beating Everton 3-0 away, they have dropped points in each of their four games. Thomas Frank’s side enter the contest on the back of a 2-1 home loss to Fulham, another poor result in the London derby after recent defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea.
As for Newcastle United, they have been far too inconsistent this season. They are a spot below Tottenham, but have won back-to-back games in the Premier League. Eddie Howe’s side finally ended their six-game winless run away from home since the 2025/26 season began by trouncing Everton 4-1 at the weekend.
Overall, Tottenham and Newcastle have played each other 153 times in all competitions. Spurs have the upper hand with 66 wins to the Magpies’ 56, with 31 outings ending in a draw. However, they are currently on a seven-game winless run against Eddie Howe’s side. The north Londoners have lost their last four games to them, including being dumped out of the Carabao Cup fourth round in October.
The game will be officiated by referee Thomas Bramall.

Newcastle United vs Tottenham- Team news
Tottenham will be boosted by the return of their skipper Cristian Romero from a one-game suspension. Romero has been underwhelming recently, but his experience and leadership qualities could come in handy here against a strong Newcastle side at home.
Radu Dragusin is on a comeback trail from an ACL rupture and still not ready to participate for the visitors. Meanwhile, Frank still remains without Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Yves Bissouma, given their lengthy time in the treatment room.
On the other hand, Newcastle’s Nick Pope suffered a groin problem before the Everton game and joined the likes of Kieran Trippier, Yoane Wissa, Will Osula and Harrison Ashby on the injury list. Sven Botman has been nursing a back problem and faces a race against time to be fit for Tottenham’s visit.
Prediction
With Tottenham completely out of sorts and sapped of confidence at the moment, this one has the makings of another rough evening for them. We feel Newcastle will come out on top comprehensively in this fixture and pile more misery on Frank and Spurs.
Newcastle 3-1 Tottenham
