Thomas Frank provides positive team news ahead of Tottenham facing Newcastle United at St James’ Park
Tottenham Hotspur continue to struggle to create chances and pick up wins at home, and their recent frustration came against Fulham. They lost 2-1 to the Cottagers, who picked up their first win away from home this season, leaving the Spurs fans extremely disappointed.
The result extended Tottenham’s woeful record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Thomas Frank, who has come under immense pressure of late. Recent poor displays have seen the north Londoners drop to as low as 12th in the league table, leaving Thomas Frank in a spot of bother.
However, with games coming thick and fast, Spurs cannot continue to dwell on the Fulham defeat. They face a dauting away trip to Newcastle United on Tuesday evening, with Thomas Bramall chosen as the man to officiate the game. Spurs may be ahead of Newcastle United when it comes to head to head, but in recent seasons, the latter have been dominating this fixture.

Thomas Frank provides Tottenham news ahead of Newcastle trip
Coming into the midweek fixture, Tottenham have been handed a boost, as Cristian Romero has served his suspension and is available for selection once again. There was no wear and tear from the Fulham game, leaving the north London side’s injury situation pretty much the same heading into this Newcastle game.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, Thomas Frank has now provided an injury update on the fitness of his Tottenham squad. He told the club’s official website:
“Everyone that was in the Fulham squad is ready for Newcastle.”
Thomas Frank eyeing a big response from his side
Tottenham’s home form and disconnect with the fans has been well-documented, but on their travels, they continue to be a dangerous outfit. Of course, the recent trips to Arsenal and PSG did not go as per the script, but before those, Frank and Co. showed great mettle and resilience to pick up desirable results.
The game at St James’ Park gives them a chance to right the wrongs of the last game and give our crazy away fans some joy. After recent results, the confidence within the squad is quite low and that doesn’t bode well ahead of facing a Newcastle side cruising to victory over Everton in their last game.
The players cannot afford to make silly errors and hand points on the platter to the Magpies. They have to be defensively supreme and clinical when they get chances. A defeat to Newcastle would raise further questions over Frank’s position at N17.
