Tottenham fans are dreading the worst ahead of trip to Newcastle United.
Under-fire Thomas Frank issued a rallying cry to disconnected Tottenham supporters and insisted they are “nothing without the fans” ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Newcastle United. Spurs suffered their third consecutive defeat in all competitions on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Fulham. It was another forgettable London derby affair for the Lilywhites, and the fans vented their frustration by booing the players off the field at full-time whistle.
Sections of the Tottenham Hotspur faithful also jeered Guglielmo Vicario after his mistake led to Fulham’s second goal scored by Harry Wilson, prompting Thomas Frank to brand them “not true fans” for booing before the final whistle. Right-back Pedro Porro also came under the spotlight for reacting angrily at full-time whistle, and later issuing a message on social media.

Tottenham fans worried about facing Newcastle United
Up next for Spurs is a visit to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United. Thomas Frank’s side are haemorrhaging goals at an alarming rate right now. They have leaked 13 goals in the last four games, and the signs are ominous ahead of crossing swords against Newcastle United.
The Magpies have been a formidable force in Eddie Howe’s tenure. They recently beat Manchester City 2-1 at home and smashed Everton 4-1 away last time out. In recent seasons, Newcastle have dominated Tottenham- winning six of the last seven outings. They hold an upper hand in recent meetings, and going by the two team’s contrasting form of late, no wonder Tottenham fans are dreading for the worst in Tyneside.
In a brutal reflection of where Spurs find themselves at this moment, there are plenty of supporters expecting Thomas Frank and Co. to taste another defeat on Tuesday.
“When was the last time we beat Newcastle on their own turf? Expecting Joelinton to bully our lightweight midfielders as usual,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another one wrote: “Arhh sh*t, here we go again.”
A third posted: “Are we looking at 6-1, 7-1 type stuff or will we keep it to a recently respectable 4-0 up there?”
A fourth tweeted: “It just doesn’t stop, when is the next int break.”
A fifth added: “Another inevitable L incoming.”
And a sixth wrote: “Three certainties in life: death, taxes and Tottenham getting turned over at St James’s Park.”
Tottenham fans have good reason to be fearful of Newcastle
Tottenham were priding themselves on shutting out opponents and keeping clean sheets in the opening months of the new season. However, their defence has been all over the place in recent weeks, managing just one clean sheet in the last seven games in all competitions.
Going by the current state of Spurs’ defence, opportunities to score should be plentiful for Newcastle attackers such as Nick Woltemade, Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga. The midfield troika of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali should have a lot of joy, too, with Tottenham’s one-paced, sluggish midfield not functioning well.
