TalkSPORT pundit says Thomas Frank’s Tottenham have the responsibility to entertain and help the fans with their performances.
It is too early to say whether or not Tottenham Hotspur will have a good season, with their results fluctuating from one week to the next. But, in recent weeks, the results have only gone from bad to worse.
The Lilywhites are on a three-game losing run, which has seen Thomas Frank attract extreme scrutiny. Fulham were the latest visitors to compound Tottenham’s misery at home by beating them 2-1, contributing to the toxic atmosphere surrounding the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Sections of Spurs fans vented their frustrations and anger at goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after he was directly at fault for Fulham’s second goal. The Italian raced out of his goal to clear the ball away, but gave it straight back to Fulham rather than clearing it into the row Z, with Harry Wilson curling into an empty net from a tight angle.
After the mistake, with every touch or clearance Vicario made, he was met with loud boos and jeers. At full-time whistle, there was chorus of boos directed towards the Tottenham players. Pedro Porro also came under fire for protecting his teammates who was being booed.

Simon Jordan comes in support of fans venting their frustrations after Fulham game
In his post-match interview, Thomas Frank defended Vicario for his mistake, whilst slamming those fans that threw unpleasantries at his goalkeeper. By doing so, the 52-year-old only angered the supporters further. And ahead of the game against Newcastle United, Frank claimed in his presser that his squad needs the entire fanbase on side.
TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan reacted to Frank’s comments on the booing incident after the Fulham game. He came in support of the fans, explaining that they pay hard-earned money to come to the stadium to watch the team produce quality football and not suffer. Therefore, it is the responsibility of Frank’s side to create a fortress and help the fans with their performances on the pitch.
“But Thomas’ argument is yes during the game we want to create a fortress. Well we know that Thomas but you’ve got to help the fans with the performance on the field first.”
“It can’t be the fans’ job, they’re not the highly paid football managers or football players that can control the destiny. They’re the poor guys that rock up every day of the week, give up their hard-earned cash and watch some of the crap that you put out.”
Fans have every right to express themselves
Tottenham’s form at home has been dreadful this season, and with the defeat against Fulham, there is negativity within the fanbase. It is no surprise that the fans are becoming frustrated watching their team put in lacklustre displays every time they take the field. Spurs have the second-worst home record in the Premier League, only ahead of rock-bottom Wolves, leading to anger and frustrations spilling inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Paying the highest ticket prices for games in the entire Premier League and not getting to watch exciting, front-footed and aggressive style of football is ought to leave our loyal fans exasperated. They have gone through a lot over the years and feel hard done by for getting value for their hard-earned money. If only Frank and his team understand their emotions and start walking the talk on the pitch.
