Following a month of recent frustration with that Rodrigo Bentancur-Joao Palhinha double pivot, we are already starting to see how Thomas Frank has been tweaking his midfield of late. And it has shown how the North Londoners need to bring in a player who gives more energy and control in the middle of the park.
That is where we land on the 23-year-old who came through Liverpool’s academy before securing a transfer to France to earn his opportunities in the first team. He has been putting in some impressive performances for Lyon. And his recent form in Ligue 1 has pushed him in that target list at Hotspur Way and turned him into a genuine Anderson alternative for the upcoming winter transfer window.
Tottenham want Tyler Morton alongside PL rivals

Tottenham are said to be keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old, according to a recent report by TEAMtalk. But the North Londoners are not alone; they are reported to be one of a few Premier League sides that are tracking his progress at Groupama Stadium.
Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Newcastle and Everton have all been tagged as potential suitors for his signature alongside the Lilywhites.
Signing Elliot Anderson alternative in Tyler Morton won’t come for cheap as well
To put it into context, it has only been six months since he swapped Kirkby for Lyon, but he has wasted no time making an impression in France. Given that he did have a few seasons on loan in the English second tier, he was already showing his development. But he has taken that to a higher level now at Lyon.
But any move for him would not be a cheap one. His transfer to Lyon was for around £15m last summer, and they would ideally be looking to double their money for a probable winter sale.
But then when you do compare him with the pricing points that have been going around for Anderson, he can come in as a bargain option. These are the type of transfers we saw a lot at Hotspur Way when Daniel Levy was still pulling the strings, but we will see if the decision-makers at N17 pick a page from his playbook to sign Morton.

Signing Morton would show how Frank desperately needs that tempo midfielder in his second phase who will grind it out (something quite similar to Ange Postecoglou’s unfulfilled demands during his time at Hotspur Way).
