Tottenham are eyeing Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen as a potential replacement for Guglielmo Vicario.
Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan are setting their sights on Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in search for a long-term solution to their goalkeeping department.
Guglielmo Vicario has received a lot of stick from the Tottenham fans for his recent performances. The Italian shot-stopper was booed by some quarters of the fanbase for a costly error in Spurs’ recent 2-1 loss to Fulham last weekend. Head coach Thomas Frank was critical of supporters for their behaviour towards Vicario, citing it as “unacceptable”.
Since joining Tottenham in 2023 from Empoli, Vicario has had mixed fortunes. The 29-year-old has produced moments of excellent shot-stopping and was crucial in the Lilywhites’ Europa League triumph last season. However, there have been plenty of mistakes and costly blunders made during his period in north London, including the recent brain fade moment against Fulham at home.
With the Italian international firmly in the transfer plans of AC Milan and Inter Milan, Tottenham have already identified potential replacements.

Tottenham targeting Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have added Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen in their goalkeeper shortlist. James Trafford of Manchester City is the other name mentioned in the shortlist.
Spurs have been making checks on Bart Verbruggen, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers since moving to Brighton from Anderlecht in 2023. At 23 years old, he has gained solid experience at a high level and is now also the Netherlands No.1 under Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman is viewed as one of the better options to replace Vicario, should Spurs decide to move on the Italian at the end of the season.
However, signing Verbruggen would not be straightforward for Tottenham. The report adds Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also very much in the mix to sign the glovesman, who has a contract at Brighton until 2028. The Seagulls are wary of the growing interest in their No.1 and would only allow him to leave in 2026 should they receive a premium.

Verbruggen would be a strong potential replacement for Vicario
If Vicario is ready to head back to Italy and Spurs decide to move him on, Verbruggen would be a smart potential option to replace him in goal. The 26-times Netherlands international is good with the ball at his feet, commanding in the box, agile and safe with his collection. Even though he’s not been mistake-free at Brighton, Verbruggen is just 23 and has potential to become the best in the business.
It would represent a smart move from Tottenham if they aggressively start working behind the scenes to bag the Seagulls shot-stopper’s signature in the summer of 2026, especially with Bayern also in the frame.
