£30m Tottenham striker seen as a ‘perfect fit’ as January transfer beckons

Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been clinical going forward this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have a forward problem, with the North Londoners struggling to bang in goals with ease. This is despite the fact that the Lilywhites have one of the most clinical forwards in the Premier League this season. Though despite that, Thomas Frank & Co. are expected to be in the market for a new #9 when that winter transfer window comes around.

But even as Spurs look to get to the market to get a new striker, one of the highly regarded talents in their corner, Mathys Tel, has been linked with a move away. The Frenchman has barely found his footing at Hotspur Way since moving to the English top tier. While we have seen glimpses of his potential, his time at the club has been much reminiscent of the one he had at Bayern Munich, as his minutes start to dry up.

This is happening even with Dominic Solanke still serving on the sidelines. When the England international gets back, Tel would effectively be a fourth (4th) choice #9 in that roster.

And there are clubs who are looking to take advantage of this situation.

Mathys Tel has suitors who view him as ‘perfect fit’

Mathys Tel quickly managed to open his account for this season as Tottenham beat Leeds United in the PL.

Serie A giants AS Roma are said to be looking to make a loan move for the 20-year-old when the winter transfer window comes around. And if his situation at Hotspur Way doesn’t change over the coming weeks, he could well be on his way away from Tottenham, even if so on a temporary transfer.

The report by RomaForever states that the Giallorossi are said to be looking at the Frenchman as a ‘perfect fit’ to reinforce their front line.

Given that he can play across the front line while he offers that pace alongside his direct running capacity and good movements in behind. This makes him quite an intriguing prospect for Gian Piero Gasperini.

Mathys Tel wants regular game time after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham this season.

That being said, Tottenham are not quite keen on a permanent transfer. And that could be quite understandable for multiple reasons. To start with, Tel does boast a huge potential, and selling him permanently at 20 would be a big gamble that could easily come back to haunt them. And then, given that the Lilywhites forked out a massive £30m fee for him, selling him will be more like admitting that they made a mistake in forking out those marquee fees for his signature.

Do you think Tottenham should ship out Mathys Tel in the upcoming window? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
