Thomas Frank wants Antonin Kinsky to continue working hard in training and impress when he gets an opportunity.
Antonin Kinsky was initially signed by Tottenham Hotspur from Slavia Prague in January 2025 as cover for the then injured Guglielmo Vicario.
The young goalkeeper impressed on his Tottenham debut against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, just three days after arriving at the club. He kept a clean sheet in that game and was expected to challenge Vicario when he returns from a broken foot last season.
However, once Vicario came back from injury in late February, Antonin Kinsky had to settle for a spot on the bench. The Italian went on to play in the Europa League final against Manchester United and kept a clean sheet in the victory. Vicario has started the 2025/26 season as Thomas Frank’s first-choice goalkeeper, meaning Kinsky has had to regularly settle for a spot on the bench.

Thomas Frank backs Antonin Kinsky to continue training hard
Kinsky has been limited to just two Carabao Cup appearances so far this season. With Newcastle United dumping Spurs out of the Carabao Cup in the fourth round in October, the 22-year-old has been a mere spectator for more than a month now.
Ahead of the Champions League clash against Slavia Praha, Thomas Frank was asked to give an update on Kinsky. The Tottenham boss said (h/t Football London):
“First and foremost, Tony is a very good goalkeeper and has a great future ahead of him. It’s not easy for any player if you’re playing you’re not 100% happy. It’s to just keep your head down and train hard.”

LOSC Lille were eyeing a summer move for Kinsky, but Tottenham did not allow him to leave. Frank perhaps blocked a move for the young shot-stopper as he wanted Kinsky to stay and compete with Vicario for the No.1 spot. Despite Vicario’s campaign has been topsy-turvy, Frank has stuck with the Italian in goal and refrained from giving Kinsky a run in.
If he continues to warm the benches, there is a big possibility of the Czech Republic glovesman asking to leave the Lilywhites on loan during the January transfer window. At 22, he should be playing regularly and developing his skill-set rather than wasting time on the bench.
It’d be interesting to see whether Kinsky demands of a move away from N17 on loan for the remainder of the season. And if he does, that would mean Kinsky is ambitious and wants to unlock his true potential.
