Fans miss Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham announce plans to visit Sydney as part of 2026 pre-season tour.
Tottenham Hotspur have announced they will be participating in the Sydney Super Cup as part of their 2026 pre-season tour. Four teams Tottenham, Chelsea, Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC will participate in that competition.
Spurs and Chelsea will take their heated rivalry global next summer when they meet in Sydney for their first-ever clash outside the UK. The game will take place at the 83,500-capacity Accor Stadium on 1 August, just a couple of weeks after the World Cup final in New York. Before facing the Blues, the Lilywhites cross swords against A-League side Sydney FC on at the Allianz Stadium.
Any Tottenham players who make it to the knockout rounds of the World Cup would likely need some form of summer break before pre-season, so there could be some not travelling with the squad for the Sydney Super Cup. And it looks like one man Spurs fans are going to miss on the tour is former boss Ange Postecoglou.

Fans react to Tottenham announcing their plans to participate in the Sydney Super Cup as part of 2026 pre-season tour
Ange Postecoglou gave the Tottenham fans one of the most memorable nights of their lives when he guided the club to UEFA Europa League glory in Bilbao in May last season. His side overcame Manchester United 1-0 to win the Europa League, ending the club’s 17-year-long trophy drought. Sadly, Postecoglou was relieved off his duties 16 days after the classic night at San Mames and it came towards the end of their worst Premier League season, with the north London club finishing 17th after losing 22 of their 38 matches.
After Spurs confirmed their plans to participate in the Sydney Super Cup in pre-season next summer, many Tottenham fans expressed how much they will be missing Big Ange.
“Never forget what our Greek-Australian brought us,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another fan wrote: “Won’t be the same without the big man.”
A third posted: “We defo had this booked as part of Ange’s contract agreement.”
A fourth tweeted: “Bring big Ange back home with you.”
A fifth added: “Imagine going to Australia without the big man.”
And a sixth wrote: “Reuniting with Big Ange?!”
Some sections of fans still miss Ange Postecoglou
Postecoglou walked into the club in 2023 as a breath of fresh after years of dull, boring and pedestrian style of football under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. He immediately made Spurs some of the best attacking and pressing football in the opening months of the season, leaving not only the fans but the outsiders by surprise.
However, the style of play was too relentless and proved to unsustainable eventually, leading to his sacking two seasons. Nonetheless, it is good to some sections of our fanbase still adoring Big Ange and the word he kept by delivering a silverware in his second year.
