Tottenham hoping to see their arch rivals bottle the Premier League title race once again this season.
This season may end on a sour note for Tottenham fans, regardless of how well their team performs in the Premier League and in Europe. The club’s arch-rivals Arsenal are enjoying a strong run at the top of the league table, with 33 points to their name. Mikel Arteta’s men appear determined to succeed at all costs this season, making it clear that they will do everything possible to win their first league title in more than 20 years.
For Spurs, however, it has become evident that they must do everything they can to close the gap at the top and help Manchester City secure yet another title at Arsenal’s expense. The Lilywhites had a chance to derail the Gunners’ title hopes when the two sides met recently. But Thomas Frank’s men failed to rise to the occasion, eventually losing 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

It is fair to say that the white half of North London is hoping their local rivals stumble once again as Mikel Arteta navigates an injury crisis during the festive period. Their recent defeat to Aston Villa may have arrived at the perfect time, with Spurs fans hoping the trend continues in the coming matches. Seeing Arsenal falter would give Tottenham supporters something to cheer about, even if their own season does not go according to plan.
Carlo Ancelotti claims to support Tottenham this season
Tottenham are being overshadowed by Arsenal in the Premier League this season. The Gunners are strong favourites to win the title as they aim to end their long-standing drought under Mikel Arteta. Like the rest of the football world, Spurs fans will be keeping a close eye on how their rivals fare, especially with Manchester City breathing down their necks for the third time in four years.
Carlo Ancelotti, however, believes Arsenal remain favourites to win the league title despite Manchester City’s persistent challenge. Speaking on TNT Sports (via X), Ancelotti said:
“Arsenal are going to win the Premier League. I think Arsenal started really well, they built a fantastic team, a really solid team.”
His glowing praise for the Gunners prompted Ally McCoist to jokingly ask whether the legendary manager was secretly an Arsenal fan. But Ancelotti quickly dismissed the suggestion, adding that he supports all teams that have Brazilian players, including Spurs. The current Brazil head coach added:
“Of course, I am supporter of Arsenal because I have Gabriel, but I am a supporter of Tottenham too because we have Richarlison. I support the Brazilian players.”
Richarlison keen to make the Brazil squad for the World Cup
Tottenham star Richarlison is enjoying an impressive run of form in recent games. He has once again become one of the first names on the team sheet at N17, emerging as the club’s leading goal-scorer in all competitions with seven goals. If the 28-year-old continues his strong form, there is little doubt he will be selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad next summer.
Carlo Ancelotti already knows how good the prolific striker can be, having worked with him during their time together at Everton. The onus now falls on the Spurs forward to maintain consistency and continue proving his worth at N17 during the second half of the Premier League campaign. It is crucial for the 28-year-old to keep scoring if he wants to retain his place in the starting eleven under Thomas Frank.
