Dominic Solanke drops cryptic Instagram hint about his Tottenham injury comeback

Tottenham Hotspur face a decisive stretch in both the Champions League and the Premier League, and the spotlight now falls on how Thomas Frank navigates a squad hit by multiple injury concerns.

The north Londoners’ attack has leaned heavily on Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani in recent weeks, with the former netting four in his last seven appearances. It looks like the duo will have to keep sharing the responsibility of leading the attack for some more weeks, as on the other hand, Dominic Solanke’s injury situation remains complicated.

The England international has not played since August due to persistent ankle trouble and underwent minor surgery at the start of October. Thomas Frank reiterated last week that Dominic Solanke is not close to rejoining the squad, remaining coy and refraining from committing to a return timeline.

Earlier this week, Mathys Tel replaced Dominic Solanke in Tottenham’s Champions League squad, with the Frenchman coming off the bench for his first Champions League appearance in the 3-0 home win over Slavia Praha on Tuesday night. While Frank has claimed Solanke did not sustain an injury setback, Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe delivered a grim update on his actual return. He said the centre-forward could be out until as far as February.

However, Solanke himself has now opened up on his return from injury. Taking to his official Instagram account (h/t Alasdair Gold on X), he has issued a cryptic fitness update. The 28-year-old has posted an image of himself on his Instagram story, captioned by two hourglasses.

This Solanke fitness update is in contrast to O’Keefe’s revelation on Thursday evening, with the Tottenham man suggesting his return to action may not be too far away. As per new UEFA rules, Spurs were able to produce evidence that Solanke was out of action for 60 days and replace him with Tel in the squad. Once the club-record signing is fit again, he can come back into the squad to replace Tel.

This latest cryptic reveal will leave the Tottenham fans hopeful over a quicker return of Solanke than recent reports. The ex-Liverpool man has barely played this season and must be working very hard to get back to full fitness to help Frank’s team.

Frank will be hoping that some of the sidelined stars are able to make a return before the end of 2025, as the north Londoners look to push for a European spot.
