“It is good news”: Thomas Frank provides latest Tottenham injury update after Solanke’s cryptic post

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank provides the latest fitness update on Dominic Solanke ahead of the trip to Nottingham Forest.

Bidding for their third win in a row, Tottenham Hotspur travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

Thomas Frank’s men dropped into the bottom half of the table following a winless November run. The start of December has been good so far, though, with two wins and a draw in all competitions. Back-to-back wins over Brentford (Premier League) and Slavia Praha (Champions League) should give Spurs a lot of confidence heading into the Nottingham Forest game.

The Tottenham boss comes into the Forest fixture with a few injury concerns. The frustrating thing for Thomas Frank and the fans has been the injury situation of Dominic Solanke. The England international made two substitute appearances against Burnley and Manchester City at the start of the season, after which he started having ankle problems again. This led to him undergoing a minor ankle surgery on October 1.

Thomas Frank confirms Dominic Solanke is back on grass

Thomas Frank previously hinted that Dominic Solanke could be back after the November international break, but there has been no sign of him in training. After Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe delivered a grim injury update on X on Thursday, fans were left in a frenzy.

Interestingly, on Friday afternoon, though, Solanke posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account, suggesting his return to action is closer. And Frank, speaking in his pre-match press conference, has doubled down on the striker’s return from injury. The Spurs boss confirmed that the Englishman is back on grass now.

“I guess it is good news when he posts that [on social media]. As I said with Dom because it is an injury that he picked up in July, it’s dragged on for a while. When he is training fully, I’ll have news,” Frank was quoted by Football London.

Big boost for Tottenham

Only earlier this week, Solanke was quick to shut down questions regarding a return timeline for Solanke from injury. He only said the club-record signing did not suffer an injury setback and will provide an update when there is one. Finally, the Dane has provided a fresh fitness update on his No.9, stating that he is back on grass.

It would be interesting to see when Solanke gets integrated back into team training, but him starting his rehab is in itself a positive update for the fans. Let’s hope he does his rehab well and gets back to full fitness before the year ends, as a fully healthy and running Solanke could make a massive difference to Tottenham’s attack in the second half of the season.
