Tottenham are slowly turning their fortunes around in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks after the Lilywhites endured a difficult spell in the Premier League. His side suffered defeats against Fulham, Chelsea, and Arsenal in recent matches, prompting many supporters to question the Danish tactician’s ability to lead a club of Spurs’ stature following his high-profile move from Brentford in the summer.
Many believed that the North Londoners made the right decision in appointing Frank after Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal. The Danish manager had done an impressive job at Brentford, helping the Bees become a stable mid-table Premier League side after guiding them to promotion in 2021. The move to N17 appeared to come at the right time for the highly rated coach, who was keen to test himself in a new environment.

After a positive start to his tenure in North London, during which Spurs won four of their opening five matches in all competitions, Thomas Frank was handed a reality check at N17. His side then endured a run of poor league performances, causing the club to slip into the bottom half of the table. However, recent outings have suggested that the team is slowly rediscovering its rhythm, securing back-to-back wins in all competitions for the first time since September.
Thomas Frank has the backing of the Tottenham players
Despite the poor run of results in the Premier League, it never appeared that the Tottenham players stopped fighting for Thomas Frank on the pitch. Several players even came out in support of the Danish tactician after reports suggested he was facing the sack for failing to get the best out of his squad. This clearly indicated that the Spurs boss retained the backing of the dressing room, making it easier for the club’s hierarchy to continue placing their trust in him.
Thomas Frank has now revealed that he is gradually getting to know his players after they managed to buy into his philosophy from the very beginning. Speaking in his pre-match press conference (via Football London), Frank said:
“Yeah, I think it’s you know I think there’s a lot of things also when you play a lot of games and you need to rotate and you try to find your team and all that so it’s not only about what I want. There’s also a lot of circumstances that make it a little bit more tricky to make sure we’re going to be or we want to be as quick as possible.”
The Spurs boss added:
“But I experienced a buy-in straight from the off. So I think the only way to get closer and closer to each other is time and working on relationships and working on understanding each other’s ideas. That’s the biggest thing. And then it is how we together handle the bad spells because there will be bad spells how do we handle them?”
Frank explained that the hectic schedule has forced him to rotate his squad heavily, making it difficult for the players to fully understand and implement his system from the outset. However, the Danish tactician reiterated that the squad bought into his ideas and philosophy from the beginning. He also expressed confidence that his relationship with the players will continue to improve, helping the dressing room cope better with setbacks whenever the club faces a challenging period in the future.
Tottenham must stick with Thomas Frank
Tottenham have one of the most exciting managers in Thomas Frank at the helm as they look to build on last season’s Europa League success. The Danish tactician has already demonstrated his qualities during his time at Brentford, first guiding the Bees to the top flight before establishing them as a solid mid-table Premier League side.
There is little reason to believe that Frank is not the right man to lead the Lilywhites forward. It is also important to remember that these are still early days in his tenure, and he is likely learning the demands that come with the role as he looks to make a positive start at N17. As such, fans must remain patient and continue to back Frank as he seeks to close the gap on the club’s rivals and add more silverware to the trophy cabinet in the future.
