Tottenham are under tremendous pressure to build on last season’s Europa League success under Thomas Frank.
All eyes have been on Tottenham this season as the club looks to build on last year’s Europa League success under the guidance of Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites appeared to have a solid platform in place as they aimed to close the gap on their rivals and remain in contention near the top end of the Premier League table heading into next summer. However, it is fair to say that the North Londoners have yet to show sustained promise under the Danish tactician.
Following their sixth league defeat of the season against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, Spurs now find themselves 11 points adrift of third-placed Aston Villa. Their hopes of securing Champions League qualification for next season are beginning to fade as they continue to struggle for consistency in the Premier League under Frank. As a result, the pressure on the Dane to deliver positive results in the upcoming fixtures is steadily increasing.

Before the campaign began, Thomas Frank made it clear that the Lilywhites would aim to compete on all fronts and challenge for major honours this season. So far, the highly rated manager has struggled to live up to those ambitions. Spurs have often looked second best against a number of opponents, leaving supporters questioning the overall direction the club is heading in.
Tottenham aiming to secure European qualification this season
Tottenham need to reignite their season and get back on track quickly if they are to close the gap on their rivals during the second half of the campaign. The Lilywhites are currently enduring a difficult period, finding it hard to produce consistent performances in domestic competitions. They sit 11th in the league table, six points adrift of the Premier League’s top four.
Spurs defender Micky van de Ven has now outlined the club’s objectives for the season as Tottenham aim to build on last year’s Europa League success. Speaking on The Overlap, Van de Ven said:
“The aim at Tottenham is to finish in the top-four this season. Just make sure we play Champions League football next year.”
Van de Ven has made it clear that Champions League qualification remains the primary goal as Spurs look to take the next step under Thomas Frank. Realistically, it may take time before the Lilywhites are able to challenge consistently for the Premier League title alongside the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City. Therefore, securing a European qualification by finishing in the top four represents the most achievable objective, and that is exactly what the North London club is targeting this season.
Spurs’ recent Premier League form under Thomas Frank has not been good enough, leaving supporters frustrated with the team’s approach in several matches. Many fans have begun to question whether Frank is the right man to lead the Lilywhites towards future success. As a result, attention will now turn to the Tottenham board as they consider Frank’s long-term future and prepare to invest in new signings for the second half of the campaign.
