Tottenham are hoping to find a new alternative in the winter after missing out on Antoine Semenyo.
Tottenham are clearly struggling to establish a focal point in attack as Thomas Frank looks to build on last season’s Europa League success. The Lilywhites currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, having collected 22 points from their opening 17 matches. It is evident that several key players are underperforming, a situation that has placed Frank’s position at N17 under increasing pressure.
The main issue for the North Londoners lies in the final third. Last summer’s marquee signing, Dominic Solanke, has remained sidelined after failing to recover from an ankle injury in time. The England international’s prolonged absence has put his future at N17 under scrutiny, with reports suggesting that Frank is keen to replace him in the upcoming transfer window.

Richarlison, meanwhile, has rediscovered some form in front of goal, scoring five times in his last eight appearances for the Lilywhites. However, the 28-year-old’s ongoing struggle for consistency remains a concern for Spurs. The club are unconvinced that they can rely on the Brazilian to lead the line throughout the season due to his erratic output in the final third.
Tottenham face an uphill task of landing Manchester City star Omar Marmoush
Tottenham are eager to add attacking reinforcements in the winter as they look to revive their Premier League campaign under Frank. After missing out on Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, who is reportedly set to join Manchester City, the Lilywhites have been linked with a move for the player he would replace at the Etihad Stadium, Omar Marmoush. City are expected to consider offers for the Egyptian if they succeed in securing Semenyo in the coming weeks.
However, Ben Jacobs has since offered an update on Manchester City’s stance regarding Marmoush’s potential move to N17. Speaking on talkSPORT, Jacobs said:
“As far as I’m aware at the moment, Tottenham are looking at a new No.9 in 2026, not necessarily in January. But there is no reason to believe that Omar Marmoush is the leading name. I think Manchester City feel that Marmoush will continue to grow in the Premier League. My information is that they don’t want to sell and they believe he fulfils two roles at City. I’m told it’s all quiet at the moment between Spurs and Man City regarding Omar Marmoush.”
Jacobs added that Manchester City view Marmoush as an important member of their squad and are unwilling to part ways with him in the upcoming window. The journalist also suggested that City have no intention of selling the Egyptian at any price and that there have been no meaningful discussions with Tottenham over a potential transfer.
Omar Marmoush faces a tough situation at Manchester City
Marmoush has endured a difficult start to the season at the Etihad Stadium. The Egypt international has struggled for regular minutes under Pep Guardiola after slipping down the pecking order in recent months. With Erling Haaland firmly established as the first-choice striker, opportunities have been limited, making it challenging for Marmoush to force his way into the starting eleven as the World Cup approaches.
The 26-year-old is currently away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, which could prove beneficial as it allows him to gain regular match action and build his fitness. Should he continue to play a peripheral role at City, a move to North London may become an attractive option. At Spurs, Marmoush would be offered regular game time and a more prominent role in attack.
So, will Marmoush seek a new challenge in the winter, or will Tottenham miss out on yet another target before the January window even opens? Only time will tell.
