Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has endured an up-and-down season.
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a potentially transformative January transfer window after a poor first half of the season under Thomas Frank, and a key player could be on the way out.
Guglielmo Vicario is the name of the Tottenham star. The goalkeeper has grown tired of difficult seasons at White Hart Lane and feels the 2025-26 campaign could be his final year in English football. There are also calls made by the fans to move on from the Italian after his substandard performances in recent weeks.
The Italy international made errors in Tottenham’s defeats to Fulham and Nottingham Forest. He was the subject of boos and jeers from the fans during the Fulham game, and while Thomas Frank has backed Guglielmo Vicario despite recent errors, the Spurs No.1 wants to leave at the end of the season and return to Serie A.
Inter Milan have emerged as the frontrunners for Vicario’s signature. They view the Tottenham glovesman as a perfect long-term replacement for the veteran Yann Sommer, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Inter Milan make first contact with Vicario over summer move
According to a report from Sky Italia (h/t FC Inter News), Inter have made initial contact for Vicario to take over a possible starting role at the Giuseppe Meazza starting next season, deepening speculation about his future in North London. The goalkeeper would be extremely keen on a move back to Italy to join Inter, especially given how things are going at Tottenham.
Vicario has not lived up to the hype at Tottenham since joining from Empoli in the summer of 2023. In fact, Inter wanted to sign him from Empoli, but a move did not materialise back then. This allowed the Premier League club to swoop in two years ago. After failing to replace the big boots of Hugo Lloris in N17, the 29-year-old is seeking a return to Italy.

As Sommer is coming to the end of his contract, the Nerazzurri would want someone experienced to potentially replace him at the start of 2026/27 season. Vicario, in that regard, fits the bill, and a return to Italy would allow him the chance to re-establish his reputation as a competent goalkeeper. He’d likely view joining the defending Serie A champs as a significant step forward in his career and a chance to compete for major honours in his home country.
However, given the Italian shot-stopper would still have two years left on his contract at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, Tottenham would ask a decent fee from Inter for his services. Vicario’s approval may be easier to obtain, but negotiations with the north Londoners are expected to be anything but simple.
