Tottenham outcast Manor Solomon has endured a poor loan spell at La Liga club Villarreal.
Tottenham Hotspur focused on bolstering their attacking unit in the summer, adding the likes of Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani to Thomas Frank’s squad. This led the club to let go of some of the deadwood and fringe players- either on loan or permanently.
Manor Solomon was one of those players to leave Spurs, joining Villarreal on a season-long loan on deadline day after his move to Crystal Palace collapsed. The Israeli international has struggled for game time in La Liga so far this term, managing only six appearances. He has started just one of the six La Liga fixtures, clocking up a total of 146 minutes.
After delivering a goal and an assist in his first two La Liga matches, Manor Solomon has dropped out of the frame at Villarreal. As a result, Villarreal aren’t pleased with the diminutive winger’s overall loan spell.

Manor Solomon could cut short his Villarreal loan spell in January
Now, according to a report from Spanish outlet Onda Cero, Solomon ‘hasn’t ruled out’ leaving Villarreal due to his limited game time and the possibility of terminating his loan spell with Tottenham. If he were to leave, it would free up space, both in their squad and on the wage bill. Potential arrival Thiago Fernandez could cover his position and wages at the Spanish club.
In a separate report from AS Diario (h/t Sport Witness), Solomon could trigger a release clause to cut short his loan stay at Villarreal in January. The 26-year-old could return to Spurs by activating the clause, as he is far from happy with his situation in Spain.
The Israeli attacker has played only five matches since October’s international break. As a result, he is considering his future at Villarreal, and if Solomon does return to Tottenham early, Thomas Frank has to decide whether to integrate him into his squad or send him on loan elsewhere.

Could Leeds United revive their interest in Solomon?
Solomon emerged as a target for Leeds United in the summer, after he enjoyed a fantastic loan spell at Elland Road last season. He played a crucial role in Leeds United’s automatic promotion to the Premier League, but they missed out on his signing thanks to the allure of Champions League football at Villarreal.
Should the fleet-footed winger cut short his loan at Villarreal and return to Spurs early next month, Leeds may well revive their interest in him to bolster their squad and hopes of maintaining top-flight status.
