Jamie Redknapp raises pointed questions for Tottenham’s Lewis family with January transfer window open

Tottenham Hotspur will look to be busy in the upcoming January transfer window.

Thomas Frank‘s side has struggled in the Premier League due to its inconsistent performances. The North London side did not have the best of the summer transfer window, despite acquiring the services of Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, and Randal Kolo Muani. The side has failed to make a serious impact.

The January transfer window is officially open, and Spurs will be looking to add squad depth. They are looking to rebuild as the side is missing its key players due to injury. And they’ve already had one of their major exits in recent times, with Brennan Johnson leaving for Crystal Palace.

Jamie Redknapp identifies Tottenham’s way to success

Former Spurs footballer Jamie Redknapp has dropped his verdict on Spurs’ needs in the transfer market to close the gap to stay in the race for the top 5 and a place in the possible European Qualification. Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp highlighted getting key injured players fit again, while also raising pointed questions at the Lewis family. He also discussed the injuries that have created problems for Europa League winners.

He said:

“Yeah, that will get enabled as well by bringing players back and getting players fit. I do not know, obviously, James Maddison has got a long-term one, which is a blow. I do not know what Dejan Kulusevski is, what the latest is with him. I mention him all the time, he is such a good player, he makes a difference…Solanke will make a difference to Tottenham when he comes back as well, so that is as important as buying players. Alan said it and he knows it better than I do, the January transfer window is not that easy.”

He continued:

“We still do not know what the future is with the Lewis family, what kind of players they would be attracting, who they are going to sign, and as Alan said, is it maybe Paratici part of the old regime, so does it really matter?”

The former Liverpool midfielder also believes that the North London side needs to strengthen its attack. He said:

“So they will have an idea what they want. I am sure they will be speaking to the manager, Thomas Frank, who will say I need players in this area. I think if they were to look to address one part of the pitch, it would certainly be going forward.”

Spurs play Sunderland at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next. Given their terrible home form this season, it might be yet another tough encounter for Frank and his men.
