Tottenham played out a frustrating 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

Tottenham Hotspur hosted Sunderland on Sunday. Frank had made two changes since their disappointing away performance at Brentford, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Mathys Tel started the game ahead of Joao Palhinha, and Ben Davies came in for Djed Spence, and Frank’s side took the lead at halftime.

Ben Davies scored a simple tap-in at the 30-minute mark after Micky van de Ven’s pass fell into him inside the box during a corner. However, Thomas Frank was forced to make a substitution early in the game Mohammed Kudus was injured. The Danish manager replaced Kudus with Randal Kolo Muani.

This might be a serious concern for the Danish manager, as they have already let go of their leading goalscorer from last season, Brennan Johnson, to Crystal Palace for a club record fee of £35m. The injury might be a possible muscle issue; he was seen leaving the field holding his left thigh around the adductor area. The club is expected to conduct further tests to determine the cause of the injury.

After the game ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw, Frank addressed Kudus’ injury while talking to the reporters:

“We don’t know how it (Kudus’ injury) looks like,” the Dane said while actually speaking on Brennan Johnson leaving to Crystal Palace. With the initial update blunt, Tottenham will certainly await more clarity on the Ghanaian’s injury status.

Except for Mohammed Kudus, Spurs have no natural right winger in their current first-team squad. This would be taken seriously, as Frank, who has already been under pressure from the fans, has yet again dropped points at home.

Tottenham are winless in 2026 after two consecutive draws. They are placed 13th in the table, and following the injury of Kudus, they might find themselves in further trouble.
