A dreamy return to Tottenham is off the cards for Harry Kane.
Not so long ago, Tottenham fans were dreaming of a reunion with legendary forward Harry Kane, as the Englishman was reportedly keen on making a return to the Premier League. The Lilywhites have struggled in attack ever since the prolific striker departed for Bayern Munich in 2023, making it difficult for the North Londoners to find a suitable replacement over the following two seasons.
Spurs believed they had found that replacement in 2024 when they signed Dominic Solanke in a high-profile deal from Bournemouth. However, it is fair to say that the England international has struggled to make a consistent impact for the Lilywhites and has also been unfortunate with injury issues. The 27-year-old is yet to start a game this season after suffering multiple setbacks during his recovery from an ankle injury.

It is clear that the North Londoners are missing a prolific striker who can find the back of the net on a regular basis throughout the campaign. Kane was the player Spurs relied on heavily during his time at the club. He cemented his legacy at N17 by becoming one of the most lethal finishers in Premier League history and Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer before making the move to the Bundesliga.
Harry Kane is all set to stay put at Bayern Munich amid Tottenham transfer links
Harry Kane was linked with a potential return to Tottenham earlier in the season after it emerged that the England international had a £57m release clause in his contract, which became active during the January window. The 32-year-old has now entered the final 18 months of his deal at Bayern, prompting Spurs to test the waters for his signature should he be open to a return to the Premier League.
Kane has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season, scoring 30 goals and providing three assists in just 25 appearances. He is on course to win his second league title with the Bavarian giants, playing a pivotal role in Bayern Munich’s attack. As a result, his signing would instantly elevate Spurs’ forward line and give the fans renewed belief that the club are on the rise once again.
However, it appears that a return to N17 will remain a distant dream following recent updates regarding Kane’s future at Bayern. According to Florian Plettenberg (via X), Bayern Munich are 100% keen to extend the England international’s contract until 2028 or 2029. The 32-year-old is also happy to stay in Germany, with both parties already holding initial talks over extending his stay at the Allianz Arena.
At present, there is a growing disconnect between the team and the fans due to Spurs’ poor form in the Premier League. There is an urgent need to bring in a new striker who can replace Richarlison in the starting eleven and play a key role for the Lilywhites in the second half of the campaign. Supporters had hoped to see Harry Kane return in the winter and fulfil that role, but it now seems unlikely that the England international will be heading back to the UK anytime soon.
It is understandable why the 32-year-old would prefer to remain at Bayern Munich for the time being. The Bavarian giants are favourites to win the Bundesliga almost every season and harbour ambitions of going all the way in the Champions League. Staying at the Allianz Arena would give Harry Kane the opportunity to win more silverware and add further trophies to his already impressive collection.
