Tottenham defender Cristian Romero wears his heart on his sleeve while donning the Lilywhite jersey.
Tottenham suffered yet another Premier League defeat as they fell to Bournemouth for the second time this season. The Lilywhites took the lead on two separate occasions at the Vitality Stadium through goals from Mathys Tel and Joao Palhinha. However, those efforts proved insufficient as Antoine Semenyo completed a dramatic turnaround with a last-minute winner.
The result saw Spurs drop to 14th in the Premier League table, having collected just 27 points from 21 matches. At full-time, scenes turned ugly for those associated with the North London club as a section of supporters clashed with several players. The incident highlighted the growing disconnect between the fans and the squad, further fuelling the tension surrounding N17.

The defeat to Bournemouth also placed Thomas Frank’s position under increased scrutiny, with many pointing the finger at the Danish tactician for failing to utilise his squad effectively and bring the best out of his players. Frank appeared reluctant to face the travelling supporters after the final whistle, remaining at a distance following the painful loss on the south coast.
Tottenham star Cristian Romero did not hold back in his latest post following Bournemouth defeat
Cristian Romero then took centre stage in the aftermath of the defeat on Wednesday night. The Argentine defender shared a cryptic 124-word message on social media that appeared to criticise the club’s hierarchy for not stepping forward and taking responsibility for Tottenham’s poor form this season. The Spurs captain was forthright in his assessment, calling on the board to be more accountable for the club’s struggles in domestic competitions. However, it is worth noting that Romero slightly edited his post later:
Mitch Fretton has since praised the centre-back for speaking out against the Spurs hierarchy and calling them out for their silence during a difficult period. Taking to X, Fretton said:
“My respect levels for Cuti Romero have skyrocketed. Finally someone inside the club is calling out this pathetic ownership, they cannot be allowed to sit in cowardice and silence forever.”
The Lewis family had promised change at N17 when they dismissed Daniel Levy in the early weeks of September. They spoke of greater transparency and a desire to rebuild trust with the supporters as the season progressed. However, with the Lilywhites continuing to struggle for positive results in the Premier League, the club’s hierarchy appear to have retreated from the spotlight, with communication seemingly grinding to a halt.
Patience among the fanbase is now wearing thin, and it appears that even the players are growing frustrated with the perceived incompetence of the Spurs board. Tension at N17 has reached boiling point, and it is increasingly likely that Thomas Frank could become the scapegoat for the Lewis family and their newly established footballing structure.
