Mohammed Kudus was forced off with an injury in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland at home.
The start of 2026 has not been kind to Tottenham Hotspur. They are yet to win this year, having drawn two and lost one in the Premier League. Back-to-back draws with Brentford and Sunderland have been followed by a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening.
In addition, the injury situation has started taking a toll on the Spurs’ side. Thomas Frank lost midfielders Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur to muscle injury in the defeat at Bournemouth. Now, the Dane has just Archie Gray and Joao Palhinha as fit central midfield options. Before the Bournemouth fixture, Mohammed Kudus became an injury casualty.
Mohammed Kudus was forced off in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland last weekend. He limped off in the 19th minute with the aid of a physio, but it was not known how serious the injury was until the scans happened earlier this week. The scans revealed that the Ghanaian attacker’s injury was far worse than initially feared, sidelining him for the foreseeable future.

Thomas Frank provides Mohammed Kudus’ injury timeline
After the Bournemouth game, Thomas Frank provided details of Kudus’ injury, handing a 21-word injury update. The Danish tactician claims that the creative winger suffered a tendon and quad problem, which will keep him out of action until after the international break in March.
“Kudus is a bigger one, to the tendon and quad, and don’t expect him back until after the March international break,” Frank was quoted by Football London.
Kudus being ruled out until after the March international is a seismic blow for Tottenham. As Frank revealed, the problem involves a tendon in his quad, which means the 24-year-old will require a lengthy period of rehabilitation before he is fit to return to action.
The African star, who arrived from West Ham for £55m in the summer, has scored two goals and registered five assists in the Premier League this season. He has been Spurs’ creative hub in the injury absences of key players James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, quickly cementing his spot on the right flank in Frank’s first XI. Therefore, Kudus missing action for the next couple of months is a nightmarish situation for Frank and Tottenham, especially after they decided to part ways with Brennan Johnson last week.
The Ghana forward is set to miss several key games for the Lilywhites, starting with the FA Cup third-round action vs. Aston Villa this weekend. Kudus will not be able to participate in big Premier League fixtures against Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Arsenal in February. March will see him miss out on games against Fulham, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, before the international break takes centre-stage.
Should Kudus recover on time, he could face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on April 11.
