Brazilian media’s huge statement about Richarlison that may worry Tottenham hierarchy

Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Tottenham.

Richarlison has been a polarising figure at Tottenham Hotspur. The centre-forward has struggled to justify his buy since arriving from Everton back in 2022. Persistent injuries led to truncated campaigns, holding him back from fulfilling his true potential.

Like almost every window, there has been speculation surrounding Richarlison’s future in N17. He was reportedly given the green light to pursue a new challenge in the summer by new Spurs boss Thomas Frank in the summer. The Brazilian came close to leaving Tottenham in the summer but eventually ended up staying put.

Reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed in December that MLS club Orlando City have been keen on the Tottenham forward. In fact, they held a face-to-face meeting with Richarlison’s camp regarding their wish to sign him. He added that Richarlison is happy at the club for now and is not planning to leave in the winter transfer window.

Brazilian journalist claims Richarlison would like to leave Tottenham in the summer

Having stayed at the club, Richarlison has been Thomas Frank’s first-choice No.9. Richarlison has benefitted from Dominic Solanke’s absence since September due to fitness issues, and he has repaid the gaffer’s faith with eight goals and three assists in 30 appearances this season. Yet, that hasn’t stopped him from getting linked away from the club.

According to ESPN Brazil reporter Bruno Andrade, Richarlison would like to leave Spurs after the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup this summer. Clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia are understood to be interested in him, but Andrade claims that should Flamengo not sign a new striker until July, then one of their targets this summer will be the Tottenham man.

Spurs supporters have been critical of Richarlison in the last two years for his lack of consistency and inability to stay fit, but this season, he has actually stepped up to the plate. Thomas Frank has given the Brazilian international the confidence and backing to perform freely, and the centre-forward has delivered 10 goal contributions in the Premier League already. Letting him go now might worry the club’s hierarchy due to the lack of their attacking options and the need to spend big should the Brazilian leave.

The South American star will enter the final year of his contract at White Hart Lane in the summer. He will be desperate to go to the World Cup with Brazil and show his quality. As Richarlison has decided to leave Tottenham after the World Cup, the Hotspur Way chiefs must start planning from now to replace him ahead of the start of the 2026/27 campaign. And Brentford’s Brazilian hitman, Igor Thiago, would be a fantastic potential replacement for Richarlison.
