Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski is not close to returning to action.
Tottenham Hotspur’s injury situation is getting from bad to worse. Thomas Frank is struggling for options in attack at the moment, with the club’s three long-term injury absentees joined on the sidelines by Mohammed Kudus.
Kudus suffered a quad injury in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland last weekend. He was forced off the pitch in the 19th minute, and extensive scans later revealed that the injury is a serious one than first feared. Thomas Frank gave a grim timeline of the Ghanaian international’s injury, ruling him out until after the March international break.
The midweek 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth also saw Tottenham lose a couple of key players to injury. Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur were forced off with hamstring and muscle injuries, respectively, with the former set to be evaluated ahead of the FA Cup tie vs. Aston Villa on Saturday.

Thomas Frank gives a concerning fresh update on Dejan Kulusevski’s injury
There has been one player that the Tottenham fans have been in the dark for some time now. That player is none other than Dejan Kulusevski.
The Swedish midfielder is still recovering from a knee injury that he picked up towards the end of last season. He had to undergo a patella surgery, which has kept him out for several months now. Dejan Kulusevski started light training on grass after the November international break, but a return date for him is still unclear at this stage.
Reputed journalist Alasdair Gold revealed last week that Thomas Frank not giving any injury update on Dejan Kulusevski proves the player is not close to returning to team training. And the fear of the Tottenham fans became real when Frank dropped the latest fitness update on the creative midfielder, as they await a key outcome:
“We know it’s a complicated injury. If there’s one person who can accelerate that, it’s Dejan,” Frank told the club’s official website ahead of the FA Cup fixture against Aston Villa.
“He’s a top pro and has got a top mentality. The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee. He got an injection to help that 10 days ago. We know in three to four weeks if it’s settled, and when it’s settled, hopefully, he’ll be on the grass and from there, we’ll see what’s happening.”

Tottenham fans have to wait longer to see Kulusevski back in action
It appears that Kulusevski has suffered a setback in his recovery from a serious knee injury. The Swede had returned to the grass back in November, which was a clear sign of progress. This meant his rehab was going properly, and we could have at least expected him in the latter stages of December.
Going by Frank’s latest revelation, the 25-year-old must not be expected to return this month. In fact, it will take more time for Kulusevski to recover and get fully up to speed, given how long he has been out. Our fans may not see the best of the Stockholm-born playmaker until the final five or 10 games of the season, even if he returns to action in late February or March.
