Tottenham Hotspur is set to host Aston Villa on Saturday for the FA Cup third round match.
Tottenham Hotspur has been in terrible form this season, with Thomas Frank’s side having just won two out of their last 12 games. Spurs have been dealing with numerous injuries, and ahead of the game against Aston Villa, a long list of players will be missing due to injuries, suspension, and AFCON commitments, with 10 senior players out. This will make it hard for Thomas Frank to put together a proper lineup on the weekend.
Club captain Cristian Romero is unavailable due to suspension after his controversial Instagram post, while Destiny Udogie and Rodrigo Bentancur are both out due to hamstring injuries, with the latter suffering in the last game against Bournemouth. Spurs at the moment have two proper midfield options, with Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Lucas Bergvall will also miss out as the Swedish suffered an adductor injury during the mid-week game against the Cherries.
Tottenham hit by one of the worst injury spells of the season

Tottenham have lacked attacking creativity, and the problem rises for Frank with a list of attackers out injured. James Maddison is yet to recover from a knee problem, is sidelined with a thigh injury, and Dejan Kulusevski is still recovering from a knee injury. Mohammed Kudus has been the recent addition as the Ghanaian winger suffered a thigh injury during the Sunderland game and is out till March.
Despite the new signings like Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani, the side has struggled to score goals. This highlights the Spurs’ season so far, as they have only scored 30 goals in 21 matches. Richarlison is the current highest scorer for the side with eight goals across all competitions. Spurs have lacked squad depth, as after the injury, they do not have like-for-like replacements in the squad.
Spurs have been active in the transfer window and are looking to make additions to the squad. As per reports from Fabrizio Romano, they have already lined up for their first signing as Santos full-back Souza has agreed terms with the Lilywhites, and also the deal with Santos for €15m has been agreed.
