The fans are already furious since their away game at Brentford, where they earned a 0-0 draw. The Danish manager heard boos from the travelling fans, and they chanted ‘Boring Boring Tottenham’ after the game.
After their 3-2 loss to Bournemouth, the fans have really turned hostile, as the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters (THST) Trust met with senior club representatives to discuss supporter concerns about the recent situation. The THST has been in discussion with the senior level, with performances in the recent weeks and months, and has repeatedly raised supporters’ concerns with the management.
Tottenham hierarchy faces deep issues with fans
The statement read, “There also appears to be a dramatic fall in ambition for the football club, as evidenced by the transfer window to date and repeated statements by Thomas Frank.” The statement said the situation at the club has reminded “supporters that the club finished 17th in the Premier League last season, that the club is only participating in the Champions League through winning the Europa League.”
It also stated Frank’s post-match comments, “that Bournemouth (a side without a win in 11 games) are ‘always a difficult team’ and that he is ‘not enjoying the job.'” The trust also accused the players, stating “directly confronting them for exercising their right to express themselves.” After the Bournemouth game, there was an altercation between the fans, Micky van de Ven, Joao Palhinha, and Pedro Porro.
In a recent social media post, club captain Cristian Romero apologised in his post to the fans after the Bournemouth defeat and pointed out the club’s management for not stepping forward and finding solutions against Tottenham’s dismal performances this season. The trust has asked the club’s hierarchy to maintain transparency.
The statement also said, “We stressed that fans need to hear directly from the Club leadership the ambition for the football club for this season, for next season, and for the foreseeable future. That begins, but is certainly not restricted to, the coming transfer window, in which all the stops need to be pulled out in order to demonstrate that Tottenham Hotspur are a serious football club and that we really do want to “win more, more often.”
