Tottenham are hoping to bring in attacking reinforcements in the winter as club aims to back Thomas Frank.
Tottenham are keen to bring in attacking reinforcements during the winter window as the club’s recent Premier League struggles take centre stage. The Lilywhites are far from their best under Thomas Frank, with much of that down to the pragmatic approach adopted against tricky opponents. As a result, the attackers have struggled to make a consistent impact in the final third, highlighting the need for fresh faces to inject energy into the squad.
It is fair to say that Richarlison has been one of the few consistent performers for the North Londoners this season. The Brazilian is the club’s leading goalscorer in all competitions, with eight goals to his name. However, a worrying statistic is that Spurs’ second-highest scorer this campaign is Micky van de Ven, a centre-back by trade.

While that is an impressive achievement for the Dutchman, it underlines a glaring issue within the squad, with a defender finding himself in better positions to score than the attackers. Meanwhile, summer signing Randal Kolo Muani has yet to open his account for Spurs in the Premier League, further highlighting the problems Thomas Frank’s side are facing in the final third.
Tottenham may not be able to sign Brentford star Igor Thiago in the winter
It comes as little surprise that Tottenham are looking to strengthen their attack in the ongoing transfer window. Recent reports have linked the Lilywhites with 16-goal (2025-26 season) Brentford star Igor Thiago. The Brazilian has taken the Premier League by storm and is believed to be open to a move if the right opportunity arises, offering Spurs a slim chance of landing him for the second half of the campaign.
Mick Brown, however, believes Brentford are unlikely to sanction a sale midway through the season as they continue their push for European qualification under Keith Andrews. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said,
“There’s definitely a lot of interest in Igor Thiago. All of the biggest clubs in the league will be looking at him, because everybody could do with signing a new striker no matter who they are. He’s done a brilliant job for Brentford so far this season, and of course it won’t have gone unnoticed.”
The ex-scout added,
“They’ll be keeping an eye on him and testing the water to see whether a deal would be possible, but I think it’s highly unlikely it’ll happen in January, it would have to be a huge offer. Brentford won’t want to lose him mid-way through the season, I’d be surprised if they even entertained that, and it makes sense for him to stick with them for now.”
Brown suggests that Igor Thiago is attracting plenty of interest this winter due to his impressive goal-scoring form for Brentford. Some clubs may attempt to test the waters in the coming weeks by offering him a new challenge. However, it remains unlikely that the Bees would approve a move midway through the campaign unless a substantial offer is made. Brown also urges Thiago to remain patient and stay with Brentford for the rest of the season before considering a move elsewhere.
The right man to lead Tottenham’s attacking line?
Signing Igor Thiago would instantly elevate Tottenham’s attack under Thomas Frank. The 24-year-old has been outstanding for Brentford this season, scoring 16 Premier League goals in just 21 appearances. Only Erling Haaland boasts a better goal-scoring record in the league than Thiago, underlining his status as one of the most prolific forwards in the top flight this season.
His red-hot form in front of goal has helped Brentford climb to eighth in the table. Thiago recently netted a superb hat-trick against Everton before scoring twice against Sunderland earlier this week. His performances have also strengthened his case for a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad next summer, making it clear that he would represent an instant upgrade on every forward currently at Spurs.
