London rivals show interest in Tottenham fringe player who had a dream debut in early 2025

West Ham are the club after the said Tottenham fringe player.

West Ham United, who find themselves in a relegation battle this season, have reportedly set their sights on signing one of Tottenham Hotspur’s fringe players in the ongoing January transfer window.

There are fears of relegation in East London, and it looks like the Hammers know that their transfer dealings this month could end up defining their season. And they have already started their business, as West Ham have welcomed Taty Castellanos and Pablo to the roster, with Nuno Espirito Santo looking to reinforce the forward line.

But with the offence taken care of, they have now turned their attention towards defensive reinforcements.

West Ham want to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers are monitoring Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who had a dream debut for the club in early 2025. He has found himself on the fringes under Thomas Frank this season, and West Ham can take advantage of that to bring the Czech international to London Stadium.

Nuno & Co. were initially looking to bring Bento from Al Nassr, but the Brazilian instead opted to sign for Genoa. And that has forced West Ham back into the market, looking for their plan B. And it looks like Kinsky has emerged as a potential solution.

The 22-year-old made 10 appearances under Ange Postecoglou last season, but he has been limited to only two since Frank took over the reins last summer. And now with Guglielmo Vicario having firmly established his presence between the sticks, regular minutes will be hard to come by for Kinsky.

Alphonse Areola has had an inconsistent campaign this season. And this is where West Ham need someone to come in and shine immediately, given that they have been dealing with prospects of Championship if that doesn’t happen. That is where their interest in Kinsky makes sense.

West Ham can give Kinsky much needed minutes under his belt

This transfer makes sense for Kinsky, too. While Tottenham will be losing a massive backup in the goalkeeping department if he departs, it is understandable that at his age sitting behind Vicario just brings him limited development compared to what he can have playing between the sticks for West Ham.

It is to be seen whether Tottenham would be willing to sanction a move for Kinsky given that they are to face their London rivals in just the space of about a week from now. But on paper, this makes sense for the Hammers and for the 22-year-old Czech ace.
